Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Wyoming borders Grand Rapids, which makes it one of the closest cities we serve. Our office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is only a short drive away, roughly fifteen minutes, so a Wyoming roof is practically in our backyard. That proximity shows up in the little things that matter on a roofing project. Estimates get scheduled fast, crews arrive on time because they aren't fighting a long commute, and if a finished job needs another look, we're close enough to swing by without turning it into a production. For a big, busy city, having a roofer this near is a real advantage. When a leak springs during a storm, that short hop often means we can be on your roof the same day.
Wyoming has deep roots as a working community. Settlers arrived along Buck Creek in 1832, the area organized as Wyoming Township in 1848, and it incorporated as a city in 1959 to keep from being annexed by its neighbors. From there it grew into the largest suburb of Grand Rapids and, today, the second most populous city in all of West Michigan with more than 76,000 residents.
Much of that growth came in the postwar decades, filling the city with dense, affordable single-family homes along corridors like 28th Street. Those neighborhoods went up over a fairly short span, which means their roofs were installed within a few years of each other and now wear out on a similar timeline. A lot of Wyoming homes from the 1950s through the 1970s are on their second or third roof, and streets that were built together tend to need attention together.
Wyoming sits right on the edge of the West Michigan snow belt, so it catches lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan along with the full Michigan freeze-thaw cycle. That cycle lifts shingles and cracks flashing over the winter, and on older or under-insulated homes it builds ice dams at the eaves. Spring and summer add straight-line wind and the hail that passes through the region most years.
On the postwar homes that fill the city, the trouble usually starts in familiar places: three-tab shingles losing granules, flashing failing around chimneys and vents, and tired attic ventilation left over from the original build. Catching those early, and deciding honestly between a targeted repair and a full replacement, is what keeps a small issue from reaching the decking and the ceilings below. On many Wyoming homes the original attic ventilation was never quite right to begin with, so a re-roof is also the moment to correct the airflow, add ice-and-water protection at the eaves, and set the roof up for the next few decades of Michigan weather rather than just the next winter.
Working out of an office right next door means our crews are around Wyoming constantly, passing finished jobs and answering to people they'll see again. In a city this size, word travels fast, and a roof that fails a winter later is the kind of reputation a local company can't afford. That everyday accountability is the quiet benefit of hiring a roofer who works right up the road.
Homeowners often wonder when it’s time to start thinking about a new roof. A few key signs include:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, crumbling, or missing
Water stains showing on ceilings or walls inside the home
Moss, mold, or algae growing on the roof
A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Significant storm damage
Considering starting fresh or adding a roof to an existing structure?
Typically done during new construction or major home additions
Ensures complete protection from the elements
Provides a durable, professionally installed roofing system built to last

We install:
Asphalt composite shingle roofing
Metal roofing
Rolled roofing for low-sloped structures like sheds or garages
This process involves adding a new roof to a building that either doesn’t have one yet or is undergoing major structural changes. It’s typically needed in situations such as:
New Construction: Installing a roof on a newly built structure.
Major Renovations: Making significant updates to an existing building that require a completely new roofing system.
This service is needed when your roofing system can no longer be repaired or has reached the end of its useful life. Signs that it may be time for a roof replacement include:
Aging Roof: Roofs over 20 years old often need replacement due to natural wear and material breakdown.
Visible Damage: Major issues such as missing shingles, large leaks, or structural sagging.
Frequent Repairs: If you’re frequently fixing problems, a full replacement is usually the more cost-effective solution.
Choosing Schoenherr Roofing’s replacement services means investing in your home’s safety and longevity. Our skilled team makes sure your new roof not only boosts your property’s curb appeal but also delivers strong, reliable protection against the elements.

Both roof installation and roof replacement provide you with a new roof, but the process, cost, and considerations are quite different.
Roof Installation:
Best for new construction or major renovations
Gives more flexibility in design and material choices
No old roofing to remove, making it a cleaner, simpler process
Roof Replacement:
Involves removing and replacing the existing roof
May require structural upgrades or bringing the home up to code
Can improve energy efficiency and boost property value
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or adding an addition, installation is the right choice. If your existing roof is too old or badly damaged, replacement is the smarter investment for long-term protection and performance.
The cost of roof installation or repair depends on several factors, including the type of roofing material, the complexity of the project, and how accessible the roof is. For instance, asphalt shingles are generally more affordable than slate or metal roofing, which directly affects the overall price.
Roofs with steep pitches or detailed designs often require specialized tools and additional expertise, which can raise labor costs. By considering these factors, homeowners can make informed decisions that fit both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Choices:
Asphalt shingles – Affordable and commonly used
Slate or tile – More expensive but extremely durable
Understanding these price differences helps homeowners choose the option that best fits their budget.
Roof Size:
Larger roofs require more materials, which increases the overall cost
Additional shingles, underlayment, and components all add to expenses
Roof Complexity:
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or intricate designs take more time and skilled labor
Increased complexity raises both material and labor costs
In Michigan, seasonal changes have a big impact on roofing projects and their costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roofing work unsafe—or even impossible. During this time, contractors are harder to book, and prices are often higher.
Spring and fall are generally the best seasons for roofing. With mild weather and less rain, projects can be finished more efficiently, usually at lower costs, and with more contractors available.
By planning around these seasonal factors, homeowners can save money, avoid delays, and make sure their roofing projects are completed smoothly and on schedule.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether it’s a new installation or a replacement—offers long-term benefits you can rely on. It helps save money over time and gives you peace of mind knowing your home is well protected. Quick, professional repairs can also keep small issues from turning into major, costly problems that may eventually require a full replacement. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re almost always much more affordable than replacing the entire roof.
The right roofing service ensures your roof does its job—protecting your home from water damage, mold, and other serious issues that come with a failing roof. DIY fixes might seem tempting, but trusting an experienced roofing contractor is the smarter choice for dependable results and expert guidance.
Ultimately, taking care of your roof is an investment in your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and professional recommendations.
Yes, and Wyoming is one of the closest cities we serve. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE sits just minutes away, since Wyoming borders Grand Rapids, and you can reach us at (616) 421-9687. That short distance means fast estimates, crews that show up on time, and quick follow-up if anything needs a second look.
It depends on the roof’s age and the extent of the damage. A newer roof with an isolated leak or a few missing shingles is often worth repairing, while a roof past twenty years with widespread wear, granule loss, or repeated leaks usually makes replacement the better value. We give an honest assessment after a free inspection rather than pushing a full replacement you do not need.
If a storm damages your Wyoming roof, we start with an inspection and document the damage with photos and notes. You file the claim with your insurer, and we can meet the adjuster on site to make sure nothing gets missed. Once the claim is approved, we complete the covered work. We will explain each step so the process is less overwhelming.
Yes. Almost all homeowners stay home during a roof replacement. There is noise and activity for the day or two the work takes, and we ask that you move vehicles out of the driveway, but the house stays livable throughout. We set up protection around the home and clean up the site thoroughly before we leave.
A new roof typically carries two kinds of coverage: the manufacturer’s warranty on the shingles and materials, and a workmanship warranty on the installation itself. The specifics depend on the materials you choose, and as a factory-trained contractor we can offer stronger manufacturer coverage on qualifying systems. We will lay out exactly what is covered before you sign.
Yes. We provide free, no-obligation roof estimates for Wyoming homeowners, including a full inspection and an honest recommendation on whether you need a repair or a replacement. Because our office is right next door in Grand Rapids, we can usually get out to take a look quickly.

They did a complete removal of shingles and roof boards that were in bad shape. The estimate was good for 10 days, so no pressure tactics. The work was done efficiently and in one day. The crew were very good and did a good cleanup job.Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
