Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Conklin sits about 20 miles northwest of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, roughly a 30-minute drive. That keeps this small Ottawa County community and the farm country around it within our range. We can get out for a free estimate, bring trucks and material without trouble, and come back for a follow-up or warranty visit when it's needed. When a storm rolls through, that reach also means we can respond rather than leaving you waiting. For a rural community a bit off the main roads, a roofer who still covers the area regularly is worth a lot.
Conklin is an unincorporated community in the southwest part of Chester Township, in the rural northern reaches of Ottawa County. Known for a time as West Chester, it grew up around a railroad depot in the late 1800s, when the new Grand Rapids to Muskegon railway made it a small local hub. Today it's a quiet farming community, surrounded by the productive land that has defined this part of the county for generations, with nearby Crockery Lake adding a bit of recreation.
That setting gives the area a practical mix of roofs. Older homes near the community center sit alongside farmhouses, rural properties, and the barns, pole barns, and outbuildings that come with working land, plus a scattering of newer homes. A roofer here has to be ready for an older home, a modern one, and a big agricultural roof span alike, and to travel a bit of country road to reach them.
Sitting in the rural north of Ottawa County, Conklin takes real winter snow load, and the freeze-thaw cycle that follows drives meltwater under shingles and into flashing. On older or under-insulated homes, that same cycle builds ice dams along the eaves. Out over open farmland, roofs also catch wind with little to slow it and the occasional hail that crosses the region most summers.
The older homes and farmhouses tend to show wear first, with aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and dated decking underneath. Farm buildings bring large roof spans where a durable, low-maintenance system pays off, and metal roofing often makes good sense there. Balanced attic ventilation, fresh underlayment, and sound flashing are what carry a Conklin roof through the seasons, whatever it sits on. In the wetter, lower spots near Crockery Lake and the creeks, we also pay close attention to eave protection and to gutters and drainage, since that's where extra moisture tends to find its way in. We're used to the drive and the mix of buildings a rural property brings, so a farm with a house and a couple of outbuildings is a familiar job for us, and we treat it with the same care as any home in the city.
We work this part of Ottawa County regularly, and we're glad to make the drive out to Conklin. In a small farming community, a roof that fails a winter later becomes common knowledge fast, so we build each one to last and stand behind the work. That's the kind of follow-through you want from a roofer, wherever your home or barn sits.
Homeowners often wonder when it’s time to replace their roof. Some of the most common signs include:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, worn down, or missing
Water stains appearing on ceilings or walls inside your home
Moss, mold, or algae growing on the roof
A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Major storm damage
Thinking about starting fresh with a new roof or adding one to an existing structure?
Commonly done during new construction or home additions
Ensures your home is fully protected from the elements
Delivers a durable, properly installed roofing system designed to last

Both roof installation and roof replacement give you a new roof, but the process, costs, and considerations are quite different.
Roof Installation
Ideal for new construction or major renovations
Offers more flexibility with design and material options
No old materials to remove, making the process simpler and cleaner
Roof Replacement
Requires tearing off and replacing an existing roof
May involve structural reinforcements or code updates
Can boost energy efficiency and add value to your home
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or adding an addition, roof installation is the right choice. If your current roof is worn out or too damaged to repair, replacement is the smarter option for long-term protection and performance.
As a Michigan-based roofing company, we understand how tough the local climate can be on your roof. From heavy snow and ice in the winter to strong spring winds and hot summer sun, Michigan weather constantly puts roofing systems to the test. Over the years, we’ve learned exactly which issues homeowners here face most and the best ways to prevent them.
That knowledge allows us to recommend roofing solutions made specifically for Michigan homes—ensuring strength, energy efficiency, and lasting protection.
When you work with Schoenherr Roofing, you’re choosing more than a contractor—you’re choosing a local expert who understands Michigan’s weather challenges and can deliver tailored solutions and quality service to keep your home safe.
Roofing Material Choices
Asphalt shingles – The most popular option and cost-effective.
Slate or tile – Higher in price but extremely durable.
Understanding the price differences between materials helps homeowners pick the option that works best for their budget.
Roof Size
Larger roofs need more materials, which drives up the total cost.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components all add to expenses.
Roof Complexity
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and expertise.
The added complexity increases both labor and material costs.
In Michigan, the changing seasons play a big role in roofing projects and overall costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roofing work unsafe or even impossible. Because of this, contractor availability is often limited, and prices may be higher.
Spring and fall are generally the best times for roofing. Mild temperatures and lower chances of heavy rain allow projects to move along faster, often at lower costs, with more contractors available.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, homeowners can save money and make sure their roofing projects are completed smoothly and on schedule.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether you need a new installation or a replacement—comes with long-term benefits that really make a difference. It can save you money over the years and give you peace of mind knowing your home is protected. Quick, professional repairs also keep small problems from turning into major issues that could eventually require a full replacement. While the cost depends on the extent of the damage, repairs are usually far more affordable than replacing the entire roof.
A dependable roofing service ensures your roof does what it should—shielding your home from water damage, mold, and other costly problems caused by a failing roof. And while DIY repairs might seem like a good idea, the smarter choice is to trust an experienced roofing contractor for expert guidance and quality results.
At the end of the day, caring for your roof is really about protecting your home’s value and long-term safety. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and professional recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is about 20 miles southeast of Conklin, roughly a 30-minute drive, so we serve the community and the surrounding Chester Township. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. We’re glad to make the drive out to this rural corner of Ottawa County.
Yes. The Conklin area is largely rural farmland, and we regularly work on farmhouses and country homes along with their barns, pole barns, and outbuildings. Rural roofs come with their own considerations, and we’re set up to handle the whole property rather than just one structure.
Older farmhouses around Conklin often hide aging or plank decking, past additions, and layered roofing that show up once the tear-off begins. Their larger, more exposed roofs also need materials and fastening suited to open-country wind. We inspect the decking closely and build the roof to handle both the age and the exposure of the home.
Yes. Along with homes, we roof pole barns, detached garages, and other outbuildings common on Conklin-area properties. Metal roofing is often a practical, long-lasting choice for these larger roof spans, and we can roof an outbuilding on its own or as part of a whole-property project.
On the open, flat lots common around Conklin, roofs take wind with little to break it, along with winter snow load, the freeze-thaw cycle, and the occasional hail that crosses the region. That exposure makes wind-rated shingles, tight edge and starter detailing, and solid fastening especially important for keeping a roof intact through a strong gust.
Yes. We regularly work in the smaller, more rural communities across the region, not just the larger suburbs, and Conklin is a familiar part of our territory. The short drive out doesn’t change the quality of the work or the attention your roof gets.

Search for a roofer in Novi, and you’ll notice something pretty quickly: A lot of companies have strong reviews. A handful have a perfect 5.0-star

Michigan is no stranger to hail. Just in this past year, from June 2025 to June 2026, HailTrace reported over 69 hail events in Michigan.

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

They did a complete removal of shingles and roof boards that were in bad shape. The estimate was good for 10 days, so no pressure tactics. The work was done efficiently and in one day. The crew were very good and did a good cleanup job.Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
