Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Ada sits about 12 miles east of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, an easy 20-minute drive out M-21. That keeps this Kent County community well within our range, and the short trip helps at every step. We can get out for a free estimate quickly, bring trucks and material without a long haul, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm rolls through, that closeness also means a fast response rather than a long wait. For a community with as many custom and wooded-lot homes as this one, a roofer who's genuinely nearby is worth a lot.
Ada grew up at the confluence of the Grand and Thornapple Rivers, where Rix Robinson built a fur-trading post back in 1821. The township organized in 1838, and the little village along the Thornapple slowly evolved into a prosperous community. Since 1959, it has been home to Amway, whose complex anchors the local economy, and today Ada is one of the most affluent parts of the Grand Rapids area, served by the well-regarded Forest Hills schools.
That prosperity shows up in the housing. Ada is filled with larger, custom homes set on wooded parcels and along the river corridors, mixed with subdivisions of every era and remnants of the area's older farmland. Those bigger homes bring steeper, more complex roofs, with more valleys, dormers, and transitions than a simple ranch ever has, and each one is a place water wants to get in if it isn't detailed right.
West Michigan weather gives every Ada roof a full four-season workout. Winter snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle lift shingles and crack flashing, and on shaded or under-insulated homes they build ice dams along the eaves. Spring and summer add straight-line wind and the occasional hail that crosses the region most years. The wooded lots so common here keep north-facing slopes damp, so moss and algae take hold, and overhanging limbs drop debris into valleys and scuff shingles in storms.
The complex rooflines on Ada's larger homes make correct flashing and ventilation even more important, since every valley and dormer is a potential leak. Homes near the Grand and Thornapple Rivers sit in extra humidity that works on flashing and decking over time. Sound flashing, balanced ventilation, and careful valley work are what keep these roofs sound through the seasons. On the larger estate homes so common here, we plan the tear-off and cleanup around long driveways and landscaped yards, and we run a magnet over the ground afterward to catch every stray nail, since many of these homes are also reaching the age where a first or second roof gives out.
Because we work this side of Kent County constantly, the roofs we install in Ada are ones people see from the road and the river, and our reputation rides on how they hold up. We treat an Ada project like the neighbors will be looking at it for years, because in a community this connected, they will. Doing the job right the first time is how a roofer keeps earning work here.

Both roof installation and roof replacement result in a new roof, but they differ in process, cost, and considerations.
Roof Installation:
Roof Replacement:
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or addition, installation is the way to go. If your current roof is aging or damaged beyond repair, a replacement ensures long-term protection and performance.
Roof installation and repair costs can vary depending on several factors. These include the type of roofing material used, the complexity of the project, and the accessibility of the roof. For example, asphalt shingles are more affordable than slate or metal roofing, which impacts the overall cost.
Roofs that are steep or have intricate designs require special tools and expertise, which can increase labor costs. Understanding these factors allows homeowners to make informed decisions that align with both their budget and objectives.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Roof Complexity:
In Michigan, seasonal changes can affect roofing jobs and their costs. During winter, harsh weather conditions like snow, ice, and freezing temperatures can make it unsafe or even impossible to work on roofs. As a result, roofing contractors may have limited availability and may charge higher rates during this time.
Spring and fall typically offer more favorable weather for roofing projects. With milder temperatures and less rain, it’s easier to work, which often leads to lower prices and more roofing contractors available to help.
By understanding these seasonal factors, homeowners can better plan their roofing projects, potentially saving money and ensuring the work is completed more efficiently.
Choosing the right service for your roof, whether it’s a new installation or replacement, offers numerous benefits. It can save you money in the long run and provide peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from becoming major problems that require costly replacements. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they are generally more affordable than full replacements.
Selecting the right service ensures your roof effectively protects your home, preventing water damage, mold growth, and other issues caused by a damaged roof. Although DIY repairs may seem tempting, it’s crucial to consult a professional roofing contractor for trustworthy advice and quality service.
Remember, investing in your roof is also an investment in your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is only about 12 miles west of Ada, an easy 20-minute drive out M-21, so we serve the area regularly. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. That short distance keeps estimates, installations, and follow-up visits quick and convenient.
Yes. Many Ada homes are larger, custom houses with steep, complex roofs full of valleys, dormers, and transitions, which take more planning, safety setup, and careful flashing than a simple ranch. We’re equipped for that work, and correct valley and flashing detailing is exactly what keeps a complex roofline from leaking.
Ada’s wooded lots keep north-facing slopes shaded and damp, so moss and algae take hold and limbs drop debris into valleys and gutters. Homes near the Grand and Thornapple Rivers also sit in extra humidity that works on flashing and decking. We keep valleys detailed, recommend algae-resistant shingles where it helps, and make sure the roof sheds water and debris cleanly.
Yes. Many Ada neighborhoods have guidelines on roof color and shingle style, and we’re used to working within them so your new roof stays compliant and fits the neighborhood. If your association requires approval before work begins, we can provide the product details and documentation you need to submit.
For Ada’s larger homes, architectural and designer shingles are popular for their look and longer life, while standing-seam metal is an option on the right home. Whatever the surface, the system underneath, meaning quality underlayment, ice-and-water shield, and proper ventilation, is what actually makes the roof last. We’ll walk through the choices during your estimate.
It can. A good part of a roof’s effect on energy use comes from attic ventilation and insulation working with the roofing system. When we replace a roof we balance intake and exhaust ventilation and can address ice-and-water protection and insulation gaps, which helps your Ada home stay drier and hold temperature better through the seasons.

We had a new roof and siding put on this year and it looks great! Once the new siding was put on, we had our pest control vendor come back to see if there were any areas needing blocked off so critters could not get into our house. The technician was so impressed with how everything was sealed properly, he asked for the name of the company that did the siding.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
