Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Hamilton sits about 30 miles southwest of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, roughly a 40-minute drive down toward the Holland area. That keeps this Allegan County community and the farm country around it within our range, even though it sits a bit farther out than our Kent and Ottawa County work. We can still get out for a free estimate, bring trucks and material without trouble, and come back for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm hits, that reach also means a faster response instead of a long wait for help this far out.
Hamilton is an unincorporated community in the northwest corner of Heath Township, where M-40 crosses the Rabbit River in Allegan County, just south of Holland. The area was first settled in the 1830s and known early on as Rabbit River, and it sits squarely in the Dutch-heritage farm belt that spreads south from Holland and Zeeland. Home to the Hamilton Community Schools, it remains a close-knit, rural community rooted in agriculture.
That setting gives the area a practical mix of roofs. Older homes near the community center sit alongside farmhouses, rural properties, and the barns, pole barns, and outbuildings that come with working farmland, plus newer homes filling in over time. A roofer here has to be ready for an older farm home, a modern house, and a big agricultural roof span alike, and to travel a bit of country road to reach them. The Dutch farming roots run deep here, and many of these homes and barns have been in the same families for years.
Sitting just south of Holland, Hamilton falls within reach of the lake-effect snow that rolls off Lake Michigan, so its roofs carry heavy, wet snow through the winter. The freeze-thaw cycle drives meltwater under shingles and into flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes it builds ice dams along the eaves. Out over the open farmland, roofs also catch wind with little to slow it and the occasional hail that crosses the region most summers, and homes near the Rabbit River deal with extra moisture over time.
The older farm homes tend to show wear first, with aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and dated decking underneath. Farm buildings bring large roof spans where a durable, low-maintenance system pays off, and metal roofing often makes good sense there. Balanced attic ventilation, fresh underlayment, and sound flashing are what carry a Hamilton roof through the seasons, whatever it sits on. On the exposed farm roofs we lean on wind-rated materials and careful fastening, and on the older homes we inspect the decking closely during tear-off, since a farm home that has stood for generations often hides a few surprises underneath.
Even though Hamilton sits in Allegan County, it's an easy reach for us, and we treat it like any other part of our service area. The roofs we install here take the same hard West Michigan weather everyone else's do, so we build each one to last and stand behind the work. That's the kind of follow-through you want from a roofer, wherever your home or barn sits.
Homeowners often ask when it’s time to think about getting a new roof. Here are a few key signs to look for:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, crumbling, or missing
Water stains showing up on ceilings or walls inside your home

A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Significant storm damage
Considering starting fresh or adding a new roof to an existing structure?
Typically needed during new construction or home additions
Ensures full protection against the elements
Provides a strong, properly installed roofing system built to last

Aging Roof: Roofs over 20 years old often need replacement due to natural wear and material breakdown.

Both roof installation and roof replacement result in a new roof, but they differ in process, cost, and considerations.

Roof Replacement:
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or addition, installation is the way to go. If your current roof is aging or damaged beyond repair, a replacement ensures long-term protection and performance.
The cost of roof installation or repair can vary based on a few key factors, including the type of roofing material, the complexity of the job, and the roof’s accessibility. For example, asphalt shingles are typically more budget-friendly than slate or metal roofing, which directly impacts the total cost.
Roofs with steep slopes or intricate designs often need specialized tools and extra expertise, which can increase labor expenses. By keeping these factors in mind, homeowners can make informed decisions that align with both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Roof Complexity:
In Michigan, seasonal changes can affect roofing jobs and their costs. During winter, harsh weather conditions like snow, ice, and freezing temperatures can make it unsafe or even impossible to work on roofs. As a result, roofing contractors may have limited availability and may charge higher rates during this time.
Spring and fall typically offer more favorable weather for roofing projects. With milder temperatures and less rain, it’s easier to work, which often leads to lower prices and more roofing contractors available to help.
By understanding these seasonal factors, homeowners can better plan their roofing projects, potentially saving money and ensuring the work is completed more efficiently.
Choosing the right service for your roof, whether it’s a new installation or replacement, offers numerous benefits. It can save you money in the long run and provide peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from becoming major problems that require costly replacements. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they are generally more affordable than full replacements.
Selecting the right service ensures your roof effectively protects your home, preventing water damage, mold growth, and other issues caused by a damaged roof. Although DIY repairs may seem tempting, it’s crucial to consult a professional roofing contractor for trustworthy advice and quality service.
Remember, investing in your roof is also an investment in your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is about 30 miles northeast of Hamilton, roughly a 40-minute drive toward the Holland area, so we serve the community and the surrounding Allegan County farm country. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. Even a bit farther out, that’s a manageable trip for estimates, installations, and storm response.
Yes. Hamilton sits in Allegan County farm country south of Holland, and we regularly roof farmhouses along with the barns, pole barns, and outbuildings that come with working land. Metal roofing is often a durable, low-maintenance choice for the large roof spans on agricultural buildings, and we roof the whole property, not just the house.
The older farm homes around Hamilton, many with deep Dutch farming roots, often have steeper roofs that have been reshingled more than once. On these we frequently find aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and older decking underneath. We inspect what’s below the shingles during tear-off and bring the flashing, underlayment, and ventilation up to current standards.
Often, yes. For the barns and outbuildings common around Hamilton, metal roofing stands up to snow load and years of weather with little maintenance across a large span, which makes it a practical long-term choice. We install both metal and asphalt systems and can compare the cost and lifespan for your specific building.
Sitting just south of Holland, Hamilton falls within reach of the lake-effect snow that rolls off Lake Michigan, so its roofs carry heavy, wet snow through the winter. The freeze-thaw cycle drives meltwater under shingles and into flashing, and on older homes it builds ice dams at the eaves. Good ventilation and ice-and-water underlayment at the eaves are the main defenses.
Yes. Hamilton and the surrounding Allegan County countryside are part of our regular service area, along with our work across Kent and Ottawa counties. The extra distance doesn’t change the quality of the work or the attention your roof gets, whether it’s on the house or the barn.

We had a new roof and siding put on this year and it looks great! Once the new siding was put on, we had our pest control vendor come back to see if there were any areas needing blocked off so critters could not get into our house. The technician was so impressed with how everything was sealed properly, he asked for the name of the company that did the siding.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
