Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Lowell sits about 16 miles east of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, roughly a 25-minute drive out I-96 and M-21. That keeps this Kent County river town and the country around it well within our range, and the reach helps throughout a project. We can get out for a free estimate quickly, bring trucks and material without a long haul, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm hits, that reach also means a faster response instead of a long wait. For a river town this close to home, that quick coverage is a real convenience.
Lowell sits just north of where the Flat River flows into the Grand River, and that setting has shaped it from the start. A trading post opened here in 1831, the settlement took the name Lowell in 1855, and it became a city in 1959. Its most famous feature is the Lowell Showboat, a downtown river attraction that has entertained the community since 1932. The walkable downtown, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, still carries its vintage Main Street and Victorian-era architecture.
That history gives Lowell a housing mix built around the rivers. Older, detailed homes near the historic core sit alongside newer subdivisions and the farmhouses and rural properties spread across the surrounding township. A roofer here needs to be as comfortable on a steep, century-old downtown roof as on a modern subdivision home or a farm outbuilding. Fallasburg's historic covered bridge and the vintage storefronts downtown are reminders of just how far back some of these buildings go.
West Michigan weather works every roof in Lowell hard. Winter snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle drive meltwater under shingles and into flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes they build ice dams at the eaves. Spring and summer add wind and the occasional hail that cross the region most years. Homes near the Flat and Grand Rivers sit in extra humidity and, in the low spots, deal with more moisture around the roof and foundation.
The older downtown homes tend to show wear first, with aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and dated decking underneath. Newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of age, and rural properties add big outbuilding roofs to the mix. Sound flashing, fresh underlayment, and balanced ventilation are what carry a Lowell roof through the seasons, whatever it sits on. On the older downtown homes we take extra care to inspect the decking during tear-off, since a century-old roof often hides plank sheathing or soft spots that need attention before new shingles go on.
In a small, tight-knit community like Lowell, people notice who does good work and who doesn't, and a roof that leaks a winter later becomes common knowledge fast. We work this part of Kent County regularly, so the roofs we install here are ones we pass again and again, and we build each one to last. That follow-through is exactly what you want from a roofer who's genuinely nearby.
Homeowners often wonder when it’s time to consider a new roof. A few key signs include:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, crumbling, or missing
Water stains on ceilings or walls inside your home
Moss, mold, or algae growing on the roof
A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Major storm damage
Thinking about starting fresh or adding a roof to an existing structure?
Usually part of new construction or home additions
Ensures complete protection from the elements
Provides a strong, professionally installed roofing system built to last

This service is needed when your roofing system can no longer be repaired or has reached the end of its useful life. Signs that it may be time for a roof replacement include:
Aging Roof: Roofs over 20 years old often need replacement due to normal wear and material breakdown.
Visible Damage: Major issues such as missing shingles, large leaks, or sagging in the structure.
Frequent Repairs: If you’re dealing with constant fixes, a full replacement is usually the more cost-effective solution.
Choosing Schoenherr Roofing’s replacement services means investing in your home’s safety and longevity. Our skilled team makes sure your new roof not only boosts your property’s curb appeal but also delivers strong, reliable protection against the elements.

Both roof installation and roof replacement give you a new roof, but the process, cost, and factors to consider are very different.
Roof Installation:
Ideal for new construction or major renovations
Offers more flexibility in design and material options
No old roofing to remove, making it a cleaner and simpler process
Roof Replacement:
Requires removing and replacing the existing roof
May call for structural reinforcements or code upgrades
Can boost energy efficiency and increase property value
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or adding on, installation is the best choice. If your current roof is old or too damaged to repair, replacement is the smarter investment for long-term protection and performance.
The cost of roof installation or repair can vary based on a few key factors, including the type of roofing material, the complexity of the project, and the roof’s accessibility. For example, asphalt shingles are typically more affordable than slate or metal roofing, which directly impacts the total cost.
Roofs with steep slopes or intricate designs often require specialized tools and added expertise, which can increase labor expenses. By understanding these factors, homeowners can make informed decisions that align with both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Choices:
Asphalt shingles – Affordable and widely used.
Slate or tile – Higher cost but extremely durable.
Knowing the price differences helps homeowners choose the option that best fits their budget.
Roof Size:
Larger roofs need more materials, which raises the overall cost.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and components all add to expenses.
Roof Complexity:
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and skilled labor.
Increased complexity drives up both material and labor costs.
In Michigan, seasonal changes have a big impact on roofing projects and their costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roof work unsafe—or sometimes impossible. Because of this, contractor availability is limited and rates are often higher.
Spring and fall are generally the best seasons for roofing. With milder weather and less rain, projects can be completed more smoothly, usually at lower costs, and with more contractors available.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, homeowners can plan their roofing projects more effectively, save money, and ensure the work is finished efficiently.
Choosing the right service for your roof, whether it’s a new installation or replacement, offers numerous benefits. It can save you money in the long run and provide peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from becoming major problems that require costly replacements. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they are generally more affordable than full replacements.
Selecting the right service ensures your roof effectively protects your home, preventing water damage, mold growth, and other issues caused by a damaged roof. Although DIY repairs may seem tempting, it’s crucial to consult a professional roofing contractor for trustworthy advice and quality service.
Remember, investing in your roof is also an investment in your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is about 16 miles west of Lowell, roughly a 25-minute drive out I-96 and M-21, so we serve the city and the surrounding township regularly. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. That keeps estimates, installations, and follow-up visits convenient.
Lowell’s historic downtown, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, holds older homes with steep, detailed Victorian-era rooflines that have often been reshingled several times. On these we regularly find aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and dated decking underneath. We detail these roofs to keep the character of the home while bringing the flashing, ventilation, and underlayment up to current standards.
They can. Lowell sits right where the Flat River meets the Grand River, and homes in the lower, wetter areas near the water deal with more humidity and moisture around the roof and foundation. That puts extra demand on flashing, ventilation, and gutters to move water away from the house before it can cause damage.
Yes. Lowell has a historic downtown core alongside newer subdivisions that have filled in over the years, and we work on both. The older homes need careful detailing and decking inspection, while the newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of builder-grade shingles reaching the end of their life. We tailor the approach to the age and style of the home.
Yes. The township around Lowell is largely rural, and we regularly work on farmhouses and rural properties along with their detached garages, pole barns, and outbuildings. Rural roofs come with their own considerations, from long, simple roof planes to older framing, and we’re set up to handle the whole property, not just the house.

Search for a roofer in Novi, and you’ll notice something pretty quickly: A lot of companies have strong reviews. A handful have a perfect 5.0-star

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

We had a new roof and siding put on this year and it looks great! Once the new siding was put on, we had our pest control vendor come back to see if there were any areas needing blocked off so critters could not get into our house. The technician was so impressed with how everything was sealed properly, he asked for the name of the company that did the siding.Posted on Google![]()

Sorry if this is long but every member of the Schoenherr team that I dealt with went beyond my expectations. David, sales person was the only one who inspected my attic and included some extra work there. He also walked the roof. He was the last estimate and the only one who put a temporary patch on the roof to mitigate the interior damage. The other employee was Josh, the installation supervisor. He was very professional and provided about 30 photos of the work done in the attic and on the roof. These were areas that I could not inspect myself. I also want to mention Emma in the office. She was also friendly and competent.Posted on Google![]()

The Schoenherr Roofing Team provided an outstanding roof replacement experience from start to finish! Everyone—from sales to installation—was professional, knowledgeable, courteous, and respectful. Our project manager, Matt, was awesome, keeping everything organized and ensuring the project went smoothly. They answered all our questions, explained the process thoroughly, and communicated excellently throughout. We received quotes from other companies, and while Schoenherr was neither the cheapest nor most expensive, the quality of the materials, craftsmanship, service, and overall experience made the investment well worth it. The cleanup was especially impressive—you could barely tell a major construction project had taken place! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for quality work, great communication, and a team that truly takes pride in what they do. 5 stars all the way! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
