Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Our Sterling Heights office at 42850 Schoenherr Road is only about 7 miles from Center Line, a quick 12 to 15 minute drive. Center Line sits right in the heart of the area our crews work every day, so it's one of the easiest cities for us to reach.
That closeness is a real benefit to you. We come out for free estimates quickly, our crews arrive on time, and warranty or touch-up visits are simple to schedule. Being right up the road means fast service and easy follow-up, whether the job is a small repair or a full replacement. With our shop only about 7 miles north, we can get out quickly when a leak can't wait.
Center Line has an unusual footprint: at less than two square miles, this compact city is entirely surrounded by the much larger city of Warren. Its roots run deep, settled in 1837 by French, German, Belgian, and Irish immigrants who cleared the forests and drained the swamps, and known for years as Kunrod's Corner before it incorporated as a village in 1925 and a city in 1936.
That long history left a tightly gridded, densely built city. The housing runs from prewar homes near the older core to block after block of postwar houses, most on small, close-together lots along the Van Dyke corridor. When a small city is built out in the same span of years, its roofs age on the same clock, and many Center Line blocks are reaching that point together. Sitting on the Van Dyke corridor near the big auto plants, Center Line has long been a working family's city, and those solid older homes reward steady upkeep.
These older and postwar roofs share a familiar set of problems: brittle, curling shingles with the granules gone, worn flashing around chimneys and plumbing vents, and older decking that needs an honest look once the roofing comes off. The tight lots leave little room to stage a tear-off, and under-insulated attics let heat escape and drive ice dams along the eaves through Michigan winters.
We fix these the right way and at a fair price. That means a full tear-off when it's warranted, an honest decking inspection, upgraded attic ventilation to fight ice dams, and ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys. Because these homes sit so close together, we plan access carefully, protect your property and your neighbor's, keep the walkways clear, and run a thorough cleanup with magnetic nail sweeps. On a modest home, value matters, so we'll tell you honestly whether a sound repair will carry the roof or a full replacement is the smarter spend.
We've roofed Macomb County since 1995, and Center Line is right in our backyard. On these close, friendly blocks word travels fast from one finished roof to the next, and that keeps our work honest. It's the same standard behind more than 6,200 Michigan roofs, and being minutes away means we're easy to reach long after the job is done. Repair or full replacement, Center Line gets the same honest work and the same straight answer.
Typically required for new construction or major additions
Shields your home from weather and moisture
Provides a durable, properly installed roofing system that’s built to last
Shingles curling, cracking, deteriorating, or missing: These are clear signs your roof is breaking down.
Water stains on ceilings or walls: This often points to leaks and hidden damage.
Moss, mold, or algae growth: Can indicate trapped moisture and potential structural issues.
Roof age of 20+ years: Older roofs may no longer provide the protection your home needs.
Storm damage: Heavy storms can weaken your roof’s structure, even if it’s not immediately visible.

Rolled roofing for low-slope structures like sheds and garages

New Construction: Installing a roof from scratch on a newly built home or building.
Major Renovations: Making significant changes to an existing structure that call for a brand-new roofing system.
This service is usually needed when repairs just won’t cut it anymore or the roof has simply reached the end of its lifespan. Here are a few signs that a full roof replacement might be the right call:
When you choose Schoenherr Roofing for your roof replacement, you’re making a smart investment in long-term protection and peace of mind. Our experienced team ensures your new roof not only boosts your home’s curb appeal but also holds up against the elements with reliable, lasting durability.

When you choose Schoenherr Roofing, you’re getting trusted craftsmanship and a team that treats your home like it’s their own.
While both roof installation and roof replacement give you a brand-new roof, the process, cost, and purpose are quite different.
Roof Installation:
Best for new construction or major home remodels
Lets you choose design and materials with more flexibility
No old roof to remove, so it’s often quicker and less messy
Roof Replacement:
Involves tearing off the existing roof before installing a new one
Might need structural upgrades or updates to meet current codes
Can improve energy efficiency and increase your home’s value
Bottom Line:
If you’re building or expanding, installation is the right fit. But if your current roof is worn out or damaged, a full replacement offers solid protection and lasting peace of mind.
The price of a roof installation or repair isn’t one-size-fits-all—it depends on a few important factors. The type of roofing material you choose, how complicated the job is, and how easy it is to access your roof all affect the final cost. Asphalt shingles are usually the most affordable, while higher-end options like slate or metal can raise the price.
If your roof is steep or has a complex design, it might require special tools and a more experienced crew, which adds to labor costs. Understanding these details helps you make smart, budget-friendly decisions that line up with your goals and needs.
Roofing Material Choices:
Asphalt shingles: A popular, cost-effective option that’s easy to install and holds up well for most homes.
Slate or tile: A higher-end choice with a bigger upfront investment, but it offers exceptional durability and a longer lifespan.
Understanding these material costs helps you find the right balance between budget and long-term value.
Roof Size:
Larger roofs need more materials—more shingles, underlayment, and other components—which naturally increases the total cost.
Roof Complexity:
Roofs with steep pitches, multiple angles, dormers, or detailed layouts take more time and expertise to complete.
This added complexity drives up both labor and material expenses.
In Center Line, seasonal changes can have a big impact on the timing and cost of roofing projects. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that make roofing dangerous and slow. With fewer crews available and more safety concerns, prices usually go up during these colder months.
Spring and fall are the ideal times to schedule your project. Milder weather and fewer rain delays make for smoother, safer work conditions. Plus, with more contractors available, you’re more likely to find better pricing.
By planning around the seasons, you can avoid headaches, save money, and make sure your roofing job gets done right the first time.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether it’s a full replacement or a quick repair—can make a big difference. It not only helps protect your home but can also save you money in the long run. Catching small issues early prevents them from turning into expensive problems later. While repair costs vary, they’re usually far less than the price of a full roof replacement.
Getting professional service ensures your roof keeps doing what it’s supposed to—blocking out water, preventing mold, and shielding your home from damage caused by aging or worn-out materials. DIY fixes might seem like a quick solution, but bringing in a pro means the job gets done right and safely the first time.
Your roof plays a huge role in your home’s structure and overall value. Not sure where things stand? Reach out to Schoenherr Roofing for a free inspection and expert advice you can rely on.
Our Sterling Heights office at 42850 Schoenherr Road is only about 7 miles from Center Line, a quick 12 to 15 minute drive. You can reach us at (248) 639-4888. Center Line sits right in the heart of the area our crews work every day, so it’s one of the easiest cities for us to reach.
Yes. Center Line’s housing runs from prewar homes near the older core to block after block of postwar houses, and both are what we work on most here. Many carry original or one-generation roofs now showing brittle shingles and worn flashing, so we give them a proper tear-off, an honest decking check, and modern underlayment and ventilation.
Carefully. Center Line is one of the denser cities in the area, so there isn’t much room to stage a tear-off. We plan access, protect your property and your neighbor’s, keep the walkways clear, and run a thorough cleanup with magnetic nail sweeps so the site is left clean and safe.
Because they were built together. Many Center Line streets went up within the same span of years, so their roofs age on the same clock and reach the end of their life around the same time. That’s why a neighbor’s tear-off is often the nudge that gets the rest of the block thinking about theirs.
Often, yes. Many of Center Line’s older homes have under-insulated, poorly ventilated attics that let heat escape and drive ice dams along the eaves in winter. When we re-roof, we improve attic ventilation and install ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys to attack the cause, not just the symptom.
It depends on the roof’s age and condition, and we’ll be straight with you. If the shingles have life left and the damage is limited, a targeted repair can be the sensible, economical choice. If the roof is worn out across the board, a full replacement is the better value. We inspect it honestly and let you decide.

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

They did a complete removal of shingles and roof boards that were in bad shape. The estimate was good for 10 days, so no pressure tactics. The work was done efficiently and in one day. The crew were very good and did a good cleanup job.Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
