Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Auburn Hills sits just west of Rochester, only about 7 miles from our office at 425 Walnut Blvd, roughly a 15-minute drive. That keeps this northern Oakland County city well within easy reach for our crews, and the closeness helps at every step. We can schedule a free estimate quickly, bring trucks and material without a long haul, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm springs a leak, being this near also means a faster response instead of a long wait. For a fast-growing city this close to home, quick local coverage is a real plus.
Auburn Hills has grown into one of the most dynamic cities in Metro Detroit. First settled in 1821 as the village of Auburn, later Auburn Heights, it incorporated as a city in 1983 from the old Auburn Heights and parts of Pontiac Township. Today it is home to Oakland University, the sprawling Stellantis North America headquarters, Great Lakes Crossing Outlets, and dozens of international corporations along the I-75 corridor, earning it the tagline Michigan's Global Business Address.
That growth left Auburn Hills with a varied housing stock spread across its hilly, wooded terrain. Older homes in the historic Auburn Heights area sit alongside newer subdivisions, and the city has a large share of condominiums, townhomes, and apartments that serve its students, young professionals, and corporate workforce. A roofer here has to be ready for an older home, a newer subdivision house, and shared condo and townhome rooflines alike.
Metro Detroit winters bring snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle that lifts shingles and cracks flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes they build ice dams along the eaves. Spring and summer add the straight-line wind and occasional hail that cross the area most years. Auburn Hills sits on some of the higher, more wooded ground in the county, so heavy tree cover drops limbs and leaves into valleys and gutters and keeps shaded slopes damp enough to grow moss and algae.
The city's range of homes brings different jobs. The older Auburn Heights homes tend to reveal aging flashing and decking once the tear-off begins, the newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of age, and the condos and townhomes call for coordination so the work matches the surrounding units. Sound flashing, balanced ventilation, and careful attention to the wooded setting are what carry an Auburn Hills roof through the seasons. On the older Auburn Heights homes we inspect the decking closely during tear-off, and on the condos and townhomes we coordinate with the association so shared rooflines are handled cleanly. Because the terrain is hilly and wooded, we also keep the valleys detailed and recommend algae-resistant shingles where the shade calls for it.
Because Auburn Hills is close and we work the area constantly, the roofs we install here are ones we drive past again and again, and our reputation rides on how they hold up. We treat every project like the neighbors will be looking at it for years, because in a connected community like this one, they will. Standing behind the work is how a roofer keeps earning it.
Homeowners often wonder when it’s the right time for a new roof. Here are some key signs to watch for:
Shingles that are curling, cracking, crumbling, or missing
Water stains appearing on ceilings or walls inside your home
Moss, mold, or algae growing on the roof
A roof that’s over 20 years old
Noticeable storm damage that has compromised the roof’s integrity

While both roof installation and roof replacement lead to a brand-new roof, the two differ in terms of process, cost, and key considerations.
Roof Installation:
Roof Replacement:
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or addition, installation is the way to go. If your current roof is aging or damaged beyond repair, a replacement ensures long-term protection and performance.
The cost of roof installation or repair is influenced by a few main factors. These include the type of roofing material, the difficulty of the project, and how easy it is to access the roof. Asphalt shingles are typically the most cost-effective, while materials like slate or metal can increase the overall price.
Roofs with steep pitches or complex designs often need specialized tools and experienced crews, which can raise labor costs. By understanding these elements, homeowners can make smart, budget-conscious decisions that align with their specific needs.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Roof Complexity:
In Auburn Hills, seasonal changes play a big role in roofing schedules and costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roof work unsafe or delay projects altogether. With fewer contractors available and more risks involved, prices often rise during the colder months.
Spring and fall are generally the ideal times for roofing. The temperatures are milder, rainfall is less of a concern, and working conditions are safer and more predictable. Homeowners also tend to benefit from better contractor availability and more competitive pricing.
By keeping these seasonal trends in mind, you can plan your roofing project more efficiently, save on costs, and get the job done without unnecessary delays.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether it’s a full replacement or a simple repair—comes with major benefits. It can save you money over time and give you confidence that your home is protected. Addressing small problems early helps prevent them from turning into costly, larger issues. While repair costs vary based on damage, they’re usually much more affordable than replacing the entire roof.
The right service also ensures your roof performs as it should—keeping out water, mold, and other damage caused by worn or failing materials. DIY fixes might seem easier, but hiring a professional means the job is done right the first time.
Your roof is a key part of your home’s safety and value. If you’re unsure about its condition, contact Schoenherr Roofing for a free inspection and expert advice.

Auburn Hills spans older homes in the Auburn Heights area, newer subdivisions, and many condos and townhomes, so the issues vary by age. Older homes show aging flashing, worn shingles, and tired ventilation, while newer roofs are mostly a matter of builder-grade shingles reaching the end of their life. We tailor the approach to the age and type of the home.

We keep the valleys detailed, recommend algae-resistant shingles where it helps, and make sure the roof sheds water and debris cleanly.

These projects often involve shared or connected rooflines and coordinating with an association or property manager, and we’re comfortable handling that so the work matches the surrounding units.
Yes. The historic Auburn Heights area holds some of the city’s older homes, and we roof them regularly. Yes. With Oakland University in the city, Auburn Hills has rental and student-area housing, and we work with those owners as well as homeowners. We can inspect a property, provide a clear written estimate, and coordinate the work around tenants, whether it’s a repair or a full replacement.

Josh H. one of the guys that works there happens to live down the street from my mother and noticed she had a few missing shingles. During the roof inspection he temporarily patched it in to give her a few extra months until she can afford it. Absolutely wonderful guy and didn’t ask for a dime, just wanted to save her from extra damages.Posted on Google![]()

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
