Wixom sits just northwest of Novi, only about 7 miles and 15 minutes from our office at 43000 W 9 Mile Rd. That keeps this Oakland County city well within easy reach for our crews, and the closeness helps at every step. We can schedule a free estimate quickly, get trucks and material to the job without a long haul, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm springs a leak, being this near also means a faster response instead of a long wait.
Wixom grew from a small farming settlement called Sibley's Corners, first settled in 1831, into an industrial city, incorporating in 1958. For fifty years it was defined by the Ford Wixom Assembly Plant, which built Thunderbirds and Lincoln Continentals from 1957 until it closed in 2007, and the site has since been redeveloped for a more diverse mix of manufacturers. Set among the rolling hills and lakes of western Oakland County, Wixom pairs quality neighborhoods with a strong business base.
That history left Wixom with a broad housing mix. Subdivisions built from the 1960s through the 2000s make up much of the city, with older homes near the original settlement and newer construction filling in over time. A city built up across so many decades carries roofs of every age, and many are now reaching the point where a builder-grade roof wears out. The city's favorable tax climate and lake-area neighborhoods keep the market steady, so a sound roof is a real part of a home's value here.
Metro Detroit gives every Wixom roof a full four-season workout. Winter snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle lift shingles and crack flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes they build ice dams along the eaves. Spring and summer bring the straight-line wind and occasional hail that cross the area most years. Over time, that steady cycle wears out even a well-built roof.
On the older homes, we most often see worn shingles, aging flashing around chimneys and vents, and tired attic ventilation from the original build, while the newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of age. Homes near Wixom's lakes take a little extra wind and moisture off the open water. Catching problems early, and deciding honestly between a repair and a full replacement, keeps a small issue from reaching the decking and the ceilings below. On many Wixom homes the original attic ventilation was never quite balanced, so a re-roof is a good moment to correct the airflow and add ice-and-water protection at the eaves, setting the roof up for the long run.
Working out of an office just up the road in Novi means our crews are around Wixom constantly, passing finished jobs and answering to neighbors they will see again. In a connected community like this one, a roof that fails a winter later is a reputation we cannot afford, so we build each one to last and stand behind it. That everyday accountability is the quiet benefit of hiring a roofer who works right around the corner.
As a homeowner in Wixom, your roof serves as the first line of defense against Michigan’s unpredictable weather. From heavy snowstorms in the winter to the intense summer heat, your roof plays a crucial role in keeping your family and belongings safe and protected.
That’s why ensuring quality workmanship is so important. What may appear as a minor issue—a missing shingle or a small attic leak—can quickly escalate into much larger problems. Water damage, mold growth, and increasing energy bills often stem from small, neglected fixes that become bigger headaches down the road.
You need a roofing company with real expertise and hands-on experience, not just flashy sales pitches. For roof repairs or replacements, trust the professionals who prioritize quality and getting the job done right the first time.
Picking the wrong roofing contractor can create more problems than it solves. Poor workmanship can lead to leaks, early wear, and even void your warranty if the installer isn’t certified. On top of that, some contractors cut corners—using low-grade materials, skipping insurance (which puts you at risk if someone gets hurt), or disappearing halfway through the job with little to no communication.
What seems like a bargain at first can turn into a costly mess down the line, sometimes even requiring a full roof replacement. That’s why it’s critical to hire a licensed, insured, and trustworthy contractor—someone who does the job right and stands by their work.
Neglecting roof maintenance can lead to expensive consequences down the line. What seems like a minor leak today could quickly turn into major structural damage tomorrow, resulting in water issues, costly repairs, and even safety risks.
A neglected roof also creates an ideal environment for moss, mold, mildew, and lichen to thrive. Not only do these problems make your home appear worn out, but they also trap moisture, accelerating the deterioration of your roofing materials and reducing your roof’s lifespan.
It’s much like taking care of your health—if something doesn’t feel right, don’t wait. Schedule a roof inspection to address small issues before they escalate into larger, more expensive problems.

Before we start any roofing project, our team begins with a detailed roof inspection. This crucial first step helps us spot current damage, uncover potential problems, and determine the best plan to fit your home’s needs.
Whether you’re dealing with a minor repair or a full roof replacement, knowing the full scope of the work is key to giving you an accurate quote and realistic timeline. During the inspection, we thoroughly check your roof’s structure, shingles, flashing, ventilation, and insulation—making sure nothing gets missed.

That’s why our roof repair and replacement services are customized to fit your specific requirements and budget. Selecting the right roofing material is crucial for both the longevity and appearance of your roof. That’s why we use only top-quality products from trusted brands like Atlas and Owens Corning. These materials come with strong warranties and are engineered for lasting durability and performance, ensuring your roof stands the test of time. Here are the types of roofs we install:
Asphalt Shingles – A cost-effective and versatile option, easy to install, available in various styles, colors, and durability levels, including options that resist impact and algae.
Architectural Shingles – Thicker and more durable than traditional three-tab shingles, offering a stylish, multi-dimensional appearance with superior wind and weather resistance.
Metal Roofing – Known for its strength, fire resistance, and energy efficiency. Available in standing seam panels, metal shingles, and corrugated styles, metal roofing reflects heat, reduces maintenance, and offers a long lifespan.
Impact-Resistant Shingles – Built to withstand extreme weather, including hail and high winds, these shingles increase your roof’s durability and extend its lifespan.
We’re here to help you compare the benefits and drawbacks of each roofing material, so you can select the one that best aligns with your budget, home design, and long-term protection needs. With our focus on premium materials and expert craftsmanship, you can trust us to recommend the right solution and install a roof that will stand the test of time.
At Schoenherr Roofing, every roofing project begins with a personalized consultation to understand your unique needs. Then, we conduct a comprehensive final inspection to verify that every aspect of your roof meets our high-quality standards. This step ensures that your roof is correctly installed and ready to provide lasting protection.

Wixom has homes spanning the 1960s through the 2000s, so the issues vary by age. Older homes tend to show aging flashing, worn shingles, and tired ventilation, while newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of builder-grade shingles reaching the end of their life. We tailor the approach to the age of the home.
Yes. Wixom sits among the lakes and rolling hills of western Oakland County, and we roof homes near the water regularly. Lakeside homes take extra wind and moisture off the open water, so we focus on the wind-facing edges, heavy ice-and-water protection at the eaves, and ventilation that lets the roof dry out.
Yes. Metro Detroit sees wind and hail most years, and we handle storm damage repair in Wixom. We can tarp and stabilize an active leak to limit interior damage, then schedule the permanent repair, and document the damage for an insurance claim if a storm is involved.
Yes. Wixom has a number of condo and townhome communities, and we work on them regularly. These projects often involve shared or connected rooflines and coordinating with an association, and we’re comfortable handling that so the work matches the surrounding units and meets the association’s requirements.
Quickly. Because our Novi office is only about 15 minutes from Wixom, we can usually schedule an estimate fast and reach a home without a long drive. For a storm leak, that short distance often means we can get out to tarp and stabilize it the same day, then schedule the permanent fix.
