Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Coopersville sits about 22 miles west of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, roughly a 30-minute run straight out I-96. That keeps this Ottawa County city and the farm country around it well within our range. We can get out for a free estimate, bring trucks and material without trouble, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm hits, that reach also means a faster response instead of a long wait. For a farming community this easy to reach, a roofer who covers the area regularly is a real convenience.
Coopersville grew up on timber and then farming. Benjamin Cooper bought heavily forested land here in 1845 to harvest wood, and as the forests became fields, farming replaced lumbering. The community incorporated as a village in 1871 and a city in 1967, and it remains primarily a farming town, with more than half the land inside the city limits still committed to agriculture. Its quaint historic downtown, the vintage Coopersville and Marne Railway, and the annual Del Shannon festival all keep that heritage alive.
That setting gives Coopersville a practical housing mix. Older homes near the historic downtown sit alongside newer subdivisions, and the surrounding township is dotted with farmhouses, rural properties, and the barns and outbuildings that come with working land. A roofer here has to be ready for an older downtown home, a modern subdivision house, and a big agricultural roof span alike.
West Michigan weather works every Coopersville roof hard. Winter snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle drive meltwater under shingles and into flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes they build ice dams along the eaves. Out over the flat, fertile farmland common here, roofs also catch wind with little to slow it and the occasional hail that crosses the region most summers.
The older downtown homes tend to show wear first, with aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and dated decking underneath. Newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of age, and farm buildings bring large roof spans where metal roofing often makes good sense. Sound flashing, fresh underlayment, and balanced attic ventilation are what carry a Coopersville roof through the seasons, whatever it sits on. On the farm buildings especially, metal roofing stands up to snow load and years of weather with little upkeep across a large span, which is why we suggest it so often out here. Whatever the material, the details underneath do the real work. We're used to the drive and the mix of buildings, so a farm with a house, a garage, and a couple of outbuildings is a familiar kind of job for us, not an afterthought at the edge of the map.
We work this stretch of Ottawa County regularly, so the roofs we install around Coopersville are ones we pass again and again. In a smaller farming community, a roof that leaks a year later is the kind of thing everyone hears about, so we build each one to last and stand behind it. That follow-through is exactly what you want from a roofer who's genuinely nearby.
Homeowners often wonder when it’s time to replace their roof. Some of the most common signs include:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, worn down, or missing
Water stains appearing on ceilings or walls inside your home
Moss, mold, or algae growing on the roof
A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Major storm damage
Thinking about starting fresh with a new roof or adding one to an existing structure?
Commonly done during new construction or home additions
Ensures your home is fully protected from the elements
Delivers a durable, properly installed roofing system designed to last

Both roof installation and roof replacement give you a new roof, but the process, costs, and considerations are quite different.
Roof Installation
Ideal for new construction or major renovations
Offers more flexibility with design and material options
No old materials to remove, making the process simpler and cleaner
Roof Replacement
Requires tearing off and replacing an existing roof
May involve structural reinforcements or code updates
Can boost energy efficiency and add value to your home
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or adding an addition, roof installation is the right choice. If your current roof is worn out or too damaged to repair, replacement is the smarter option for long-term protection and performance.
As a Michigan-based roofing company, we understand how tough the local climate can be on your roof. From heavy snow and ice in the winter to strong spring winds and hot summer sun, Michigan weather constantly puts roofing systems to the test. Over the years, we’ve learned exactly which issues homeowners here face most and the best ways to prevent them.
That knowledge allows us to recommend roofing solutions made specifically for Michigan homes—ensuring strength, energy efficiency, and lasting protection.
When you work with Schoenherr Roofing, you’re choosing more than a contractor—you’re choosing a local expert who understands Michigan’s weather challenges and can deliver tailored solutions and quality service to keep your home safe.
Roofing Material Choices
Asphalt shingles – The most popular option and cost-effective.
Slate or tile – Higher in price but extremely durable.
Understanding the price differences between materials helps homeowners pick the option that works best for their budget.
Roof Size
Larger roofs need more materials, which drives up the total cost.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components all add to expenses.
Roof Complexity
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and expertise.
The added complexity increases both labor and material costs.
In Michigan, the changing seasons play a big role in roofing projects and overall costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roofing work unsafe or even impossible. Because of this, contractor availability is often limited, and prices may be higher.
Spring and fall are generally the best times for roofing. Mild temperatures and lower chances of heavy rain allow projects to move along faster, often at lower costs, with more contractors available.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, homeowners can save money and make sure their roofing projects are completed smoothly and on schedule.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether you need a new installation or a replacement—comes with long-term benefits that really make a difference. It can save you money over the years and give you peace of mind knowing your home is protected. Quick, professional repairs also keep small problems from turning into major issues that could eventually require a full replacement. While the cost depends on the extent of the damage, repairs are usually far more affordable than replacing the entire roof.
A dependable roofing service ensures your roof does what it should—shielding your home from water damage, mold, and other costly problems caused by a failing roof. And while DIY repairs might seem like a good idea, the smarter choice is to trust an experienced roofing contractor for expert guidance and quality results.
At the end of the day, caring for your roof is really about protecting your home’s value and long-term safety. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and professional recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is about 22 miles east of Coopersville, roughly a 30-minute run straight out I-96, so we serve the city and the surrounding farm country regularly. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. The straight highway run makes it an easy trip for estimates, installations, and storm response.
Yes. More than half the land inside Coopersville’s city limits is still farmland, and we regularly roof farmhouses along with the dairy barns, pole barns, and outbuildings that come with working land. Metal roofing is often a durable, low-maintenance choice for the large roof spans on agricultural buildings.
Coopersville’s historic downtown homes often have steeper roofs reshingled more than once over the decades. On these we frequently find aging flashing, worn or layered shingles, and older decking underneath. We inspect what’s below the shingles during tear-off and bring the flashing, underlayment, and ventilation up to current standards.
Often, yes. For the barns and outbuildings common around Coopersville, metal roofing stands up to snow load and years of weather with little maintenance across a large span, which makes it a practical long-term choice. We install both metal and asphalt systems and can compare the cost and lifespan for your building.
Because Coopersville is a straight 30-minute run out I-96, we respond to roof repairs and storm damage there as part of our regular service area. We can tarp and stabilize an active leak to limit interior damage, then schedule the permanent repair, and document the damage for insurance if a storm is involved.
Yes. Coopersville and the surrounding Ottawa County farm country are part of our regular service area. It’s a familiar part of our territory rather than an afterthought at the edge of the map, and we cover it for estimates, installations, and storm response.

We had a new roof and siding put on this year and it looks great! Once the new siding was put on, we had our pest control vendor come back to see if there were any areas needing blocked off so critters could not get into our house. The technician was so impressed with how everything was sealed properly, he asked for the name of the company that did the siding.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
