Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Allenton sits about 13 miles east of our Romeo office at 102 W St Clair St, roughly a 20-minute drive out into the farm country. That keeps this small St. Clair County community and the land around it within our range. We can get out for a free estimate, bring trucks and material without trouble, and come back for a follow-up or warranty visit when it is needed. When a storm rolls through, that reach also means we can respond rather than leaving you waiting. For a rural community a bit off the main roads, a roofer who still covers the area regularly is worth a lot. The open country out here is part of the appeal, and it shapes the roofs we build.
Allenton is an unincorporated community in Berlin Township, in the rural western reaches of St. Clair County. It was founded around 1844 by Kerkimer Smith, an innkeeper who ran a stagecoach line to Detroit, and was first known as Smith's Corners before a railroad station and post office took shape and the community was renamed Allenton in 1910. It has always been a small, quiet farming community, surrounded by the open agricultural land that defines this part of the county.
That setting gives the area a practical mix of roofs. Older homes and farmhouses sit alongside rural properties and the barns, pole barns, and outbuildings that come with working land, plus a scattering of newer homes. A roofer here has to be ready for an older home, a modern one, and a big agricultural roof span alike, and to travel a bit of country road to reach them.
Metro Detroit winters bring real snow load to Allenton, and the freeze-thaw cycle that follows drives meltwater under shingles and into flashing, building ice dams at the eaves on older or under-insulated homes. Out over the open, flat farmland here, roofs also catch wind with little to slow it, along with the occasional hail that crosses the area most summers.
The older homes and farmhouses tend to show wear first, often revealing aging or plank decking, past additions, and layered roofing once the tear-off begins. Farm buildings bring large roof spans where a durable, low-maintenance system, frequently metal, pays off. Sound flashing, fresh underlayment, and balanced attic ventilation are what carry an Allenton roof through the seasons, whatever it sits on. On the farm buildings especially, metal roofing stands up to snow load and years of weather with little upkeep across a large span, which is why we suggest it so often out here. We are used to the drive and the mix of buildings a rural property brings, so a farm with a house, a garage, and a couple of outbuildings is a familiar kind of job for us, and we treat it with the same care as any home closer in.
We work the rural country east of Romeo regularly, and we are glad to make the drive out to Allenton. In a small farming community, a roof that fails a winter later becomes common knowledge fast, so we build each one to last and stand behind the work. That is the kind of follow-through you want from a roofer, wherever your home or barn sits.

Both roof installation and roof replacement result in a new roof, but they differ in process, cost, and considerations.
Roof Installation:
Roof Replacement:
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or addition, installation is the way to go. If your current roof is aging or damaged beyond repair, a replacement ensures long-term protection and performance.
The cost of roof installation or repair can vary depending on a few key factors. These include the type of roofing material, how complex the job is, and how accessible the roof is. For example, asphalt shingles tend to be more affordable than materials like slate or metal, which can increase the overall price.
Steep roofs or those with intricate layouts often require extra equipment and skilled labor, which can drive up labor costs. Understanding these details helps homeowners make informed decisions that fit both their needs and their budget.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Roof Complexity:
In Allenton, seasonal changes can impact both the timing and cost of roofing projects. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temps, which can make roof work risky or even impossible. Fewer contractors are available during this time, and prices may go up due to the added challenges.
Spring and fall are usually the best times for roofing. Milder weather and lower chances of rain make it easier and safer to get the job done. Plus, you’re more likely to find available contractors at more competitive rates.
Understanding these seasonal trends can help homeowners plan ahead, save money, and get their roofing work completed more efficiently.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether it’s a full installation or a repair—comes with major benefits. It can save you money over time and give you peace of mind. Tackling small repairs early helps prevent them from turning into larger, more expensive problems. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re typically far more affordable than a full roof replacement.
The right service also ensures your roof can do its job—protecting your home from leaks, mold, and other damage caused by worn-out roofing. Even if DIY repairs seem tempting, it’s best to speak with a professional contractor for reliable guidance and quality work.
Remember, investing in your roof means investing in your home’s value—and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert advice.
Yes. Our Romeo office at 102 W St Clair St is about 13 miles from Allenton, roughly a 20-minute drive, so we serve this rural St. Clair County community. You can reach the office at (248) 422-2910. We’re glad to make the trip out into the farm country for a free estimate.
Yes. The Allenton area is largely rural farmland, and we regularly work on farmhouses and country homes along with their barns, pole barns, and outbuildings. Rural roofs come with their own considerations, and we’re set up to handle the whole property rather than just one structure.
Older farmhouses around Allenton often hide aging or plank decking, past additions, and layered roofing that show up once the tear-off begins. Their larger, more exposed roofs also need materials and fastening suited to open-country wind. We inspect the decking closely and build the roof to handle both the age and the exposure of the home.
Yes. Along with homes, we roof pole barns, detached garages, and other outbuildings common on Allenton-area properties. Metal roofing is often a practical, long-lasting choice for these larger roof spans, and we can roof an outbuilding on its own or as part of a whole-property project.
Winters bring real snow load to Allenton, and as it melts and refreezes, the freeze-thaw cycle drives water under shingles and into flashing, building ice dams on older homes. Out over the open farmland, wind adds uplift with little to slow it. Good ventilation, ice-and-water protection at the eaves, and solid fastening are the main defenses here.
Yes. The rural communities in western St. Clair County, including Allenton, are within our regular service area out of the Romeo office. It’s a familiar part of our territory rather than an afterthought at the edge of the map, and the drive doesn’t change the quality of the work.

Our experience with Schoenherr Roofing has been very pleasant. Our sales consultant, Nate and project manager, Josh H. were both professional and personable. We were very impressed with the excellent communication by Josh before, during, and after our project. The cleanup the roofing crew did was also outstanding. We love our new roof!Posted on Google![]()

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
