Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Comstock Park sits about 10 miles north of our Grand Rapids office on Kraft Ave SE, a short 20-minute drive up the west side of the metro. That keeps this Kent County community well within easy reach for our crews, and the short trip helps at every step. We can get out for a free estimate quickly, bring trucks and material without a long haul, and come back easily for a follow-up or warranty visit. When a storm rolls through, that closeness also means a fast response instead of a long wait. For a busy community this close to home, a nearby roofer is a real convenience.
Comstock Park sits just north of Grand Rapids, spread across Alpine and Plainfield Townships with the Grand River running along its eastern edge. It began in 1838 as North's Mill, later became Mill Creek, and grew into a northern crossroads for the area's railroads. Today it's best known as the home of the West Michigan Whitecaps, who play at LMCU Ballpark, with the Fred Meijer White Pine Trail running right through the community.
That history left Comstock Park with a suburban housing mix. Established single-family neighborhoods from the community's earlier decades sit alongside newer subdivisions, with a scattering of older homes near the river. A city built up across so many years carries roofs of every age, and plenty of them are now reaching the point where a builder-grade roof wears out.
West Michigan weather gives every Comstock Park roof a full four-season workout. Winter snow load and the freeze-thaw cycle lift shingles and crack flashing, and on older or under-insulated homes they build ice dams along the eaves. Spring and summer add the straight-line wind and occasional hail that cross the region most years. Homes on the lower ground near the Grand River deal with a little extra moisture over time.
On the established single-family homes, we most often see worn shingles losing granules, aging flashing around chimneys and vents, and tired attic ventilation from the original build. The newer subdivision roofs are mostly a matter of age. Catching problems early, and deciding honestly between a repair and a full replacement, keeps a small issue from reaching the decking and the ceilings below. On many Comstock Park homes the original attic ventilation was never quite right, so a re-roof is the moment to correct the airflow and add ice-and-water protection at the eaves, setting the roof up for the next few decades rather than just the next winter. Because the neighborhoods were built in the same eras, their roofs tend to reach that point together, so a block of similar homes often comes due at once.
Because Comstock Park is close and we work the area constantly, the roofs we install here are ones we drive past again and again, and our reputation rides on how they hold up. We treat every project like the neighbors will be looking at it for years, because in a connected community like this one, they will. Standing behind the work is how a roofer keeps earning it.
Homeowners often ask how to tell when it’s time for a roof replacement. Some of the most common signs include:
Shingles that are curled, cracked, deteriorating, or missing
Water stains showing up on ceilings or walls inside your home
Moss, mold, or algae growth on the roof
A roof that’s more than 20 years old
Significant storm damage
Considering starting from scratch with a new roof or adding one to an existing structure?
Typically done during new construction or home additions
Ensures your home is fully protected against the elements
Provides a strong, properly installed roofing system built to last

Both roof installation and roof replacement give you a new roof, but the process, costs, and considerations are quite different.
Roof Installation
Ideal for new construction or major renovations
Offers more flexibility with design and material options
No old materials to remove, making the process simpler and cleaner
Roof Replacement
Requires tearing off and replacing an existing roof
May involve structural reinforcements or code updates
Can boost energy efficiency and add value to your home
Bottom Line: If you’re building a new home or adding an addition, roof installation is the right choice. If your current roof is worn out or too damaged to repair, replacement is the smarter option for long-term protection and performance.
As a Michigan-based roofing company, we understand how tough the local climate can be on your roof. From heavy snow and ice in the winter to strong spring winds and hot summer sun, Michigan weather constantly puts roofing systems to the test. Over the years, we’ve learned exactly which issues homeowners here face most and the best ways to prevent them.
That knowledge allows us to recommend roofing solutions made specifically for Michigan homes—ensuring strength, energy efficiency, and lasting protection.
When you work with Schoenherr Roofing, you’re choosing more than a contractor—you’re choosing a local expert who understands Michigan’s weather challenges and can deliver tailored solutions and quality service to keep your home safe.
Roofing Material Choices
Asphalt shingles – The most popular option and cost-effective.
Slate or tile – Higher in price but extremely durable.
Understanding the price differences between materials helps homeowners pick the option that works best for their budget.
Roof Size
Larger roofs need more materials, which drives up the total cost.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components all add to expenses.
Roof Complexity
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and expertise.
The added complexity increases both labor and material costs.
In Michigan, the changing seasons play a big role in roofing projects and overall costs. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roofing work unsafe or even impossible. Because of this, contractor availability is often limited, and prices may be higher.
Spring and fall are generally the best times for roofing. Mild temperatures and lower chances of heavy rain allow projects to move along faster, often at lower costs, with more contractors available.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, homeowners can save money and make sure their roofing projects are completed smoothly and on schedule.
Choosing the right roofing service—whether you’re installing a new roof or replacing an old one—offers long-term benefits that truly matter. It can help you save money over time and give you peace of mind knowing your home is well protected. Quick, professional repairs also stop small issues from becoming major problems that might eventually lead to a full replacement. While the exact cost depends on the damage, repairs are almost always more affordable than replacing your entire roof.
A trusted roofing service ensures your roof does its job—protecting your home from water damage, mold, and other expensive problems that come with a failing roof. And while DIY repairs may sound appealing, the best decision is to rely on an experienced roofing contractor for expert advice and dependable results.
In the end, taking care of your roof is really about protecting your home’s value and long-term safety. Worried about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and professional recommendations.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Ave SE is only about 10 miles south of Comstock Park, a short 20-minute drive up the west side of the metro, so we serve the community regularly. You can reach the office at (616) 421-9687. That closeness keeps estimates, installations, and follow-up visits quick and convenient.
On Comstock Park’s established single-family homes we most often see worn shingles losing granules, aging flashing around chimneys and vents, and attic ventilation that was never quite balanced from the original build. Because many neighborhoods were built in the same eras, their roofs tend to reach the end of their life around the same time.
The Grand River runs along the eastern edge of Comstock Park, and homes on the lower, wetter ground near it deal with a little extra moisture around the roof and foundation. That puts added demand on flashing, ventilation, and gutters to move water away from the house before it can cause damage.
Both. We handle everything from a targeted roof repair, like fixing a leak or replacing damaged shingles and flashing, to a full roof replacement in Comstock Park. After a free inspection we give an honest recommendation on which one your roof actually needs rather than pushing the bigger job.
Quickly. Because our office is only about 20 minutes away, we can usually schedule an estimate fast and reach a home for a repair without a long drive. For a storm leak, that short distance often means we can get out to tarp and stabilize it the same day, then schedule the permanent fix.
Yes. We provide free, no-obligation roof inspections for Comstock Park homeowners, including an honest assessment of whether you need a repair or a full replacement. A periodic inspection is worthwhile after a hard winter or a summer storm, even when nothing is obviously wrong.

We had a new roof and siding put on this year and it looks great! Once the new siding was put on, we had our pest control vendor come back to see if there were any areas needing blocked off so critters could not get into our house. The technician was so impressed with how everything was sealed properly, he asked for the name of the company that did the siding.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
