Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Wyoming borders Grand Rapids to the southwest, and our office at 2828 Kraft Avenue SE is only about seven to eight miles away, roughly a fifteen minute drive. That’s close enough that our crews treat Wyoming roofs as regular local work, whether it’s a slow ceiling stain or fresh damage after a storm rolls through the neighborhood.
For a city this large and this densely built, that speed matters. We can inspect, make a roof watertight, and get the real repair scheduled before a small problem spreads to the drywall. When a storm marks a run of homes on the same block, being close lets us work through those calls fast.
Wyoming is the second most-populated community in the Grand Rapids metro, home to more than 76,000 residents. The area was first settled in 1832 along Buck Creek and organized as Wyoming Township in 1848, staying rural and supplying goods to Grand Rapids through the 1800s. When the railway arrived, it suburbanized fast, and through the mid-1900s it filled in with the ranch and bungalow neighborhoods and the industrial corridor along 28th Street that still define it.
That building history is the key to Wyoming’s roofs. When whole neighborhoods go up within a short span, their roofs reach the end of their service life within a few years of each other too. Across Wyoming, that means whole streets tend to hit the repair window around the same time, which is the single biggest fact behind the roof work we do here.
The low-slope ranch and bungalow roofs that fill much of Wyoming shed water slowly, so worn shingles, failing pipe boots, and tired valley flashing turn into leaks faster than they would on a steep roof. We see a lot of granule loss piling up in gutters, a clear sign the shingle surface is wearing thin and the roof is nearing the end of its useful life.
West Michigan winters pile on. Lake-effect snow off Lake Michigan drops heavier, more frequent snow than most of the state sees, and on these older homes with thin original attic insulation, it melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that force water back up under the shingles. Summer storms lift and tear aging shingles on these exposed, wide-open roofs, and because so many Wyoming homes share the same roof age, a single storm can mark a whole street at once. Most of it is repairable when caught early, and because we know this postwar housing stock well, we can give you an honest read on whether your roof has years left or is near replacement. That straight answer saves homeowners money either way, and it’s the kind of read you only get from a crew that has worked these specific neighborhoods for years.
We work Wyoming’s neighborhoods constantly, and we drive past our finished jobs all the time. That keeps us accountable. A repair that fails is one we’ll be seeing again, so we do it right the first time. We’ve served Michigan homeowners since 1995, and a close-in suburb like Wyoming is exactly the kind of place that track record was built for.
Wyoming’s weather takes a serious toll on roofs. Hot, humid summers and long, icy winters can wear down even the strongest roofing systems. Strong winds and storms may crack or rip off shingles, while heavy rain and ice buildup often cause leaks or structural damage. When gutters clog, water backs up, raising the risk of mold and more extensive damage.
Catching these issues early can save you a lot of money. If you notice any signs of trouble, reach out to a professional roofer right away—before a small problem turns into a costly repair.
Wyoming’s weather puts serious stress on roofs. In the summer, the hot sun dries out asphalt shingles, leaving them brittle and prone to cracking. Heavy rain or hail can clog gutters, forcing water under the shingles and causing leaks.
Winter brings even bigger challenges. Snow and ice add heavy weight to your roof, which can cause significant damage. The freeze-and-thaw cycle makes things worse, as expanding and contracting ice creates cracks that grow larger over time.
That’s why regular roof inspections are so important, especially after severe weather. They help you catch small problems early—before they turn into costly repairs.

Choose Roof Repairs If:
The damage is minor, like a few missing shingles
Your roof is still fairly new and in good condition overall
A small leak is confined to one repairable area
Consider Roof Replacement If:
Your roof is more than 20 years old and showing heavy wear
A large section of the roof has been damaged
Repair costs are close to the price of a full replacement
Not sure which option is right for you? Our experts will explain your choices and recommend the solution that best fits your home’s needs.
Roof repair costs are influenced by several factors, including the type of roofing material, the complexity of the project, and how easy the roof is to access. Asphalt shingles are generally the most affordable option, while slate or metal can raise the overall price.
Steep or detailed roof designs often require specialized tools and skilled labor, which can also add to the expense. Understanding these factors helps homeowners set realistic expectations and plan repairs that fit both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Options
Asphalt shingles – A cost-effective and widely used option.
Slate or tile – Pricier, but extremely durable and long-lasting.
Knowing the price differences helps homeowners pick the material that best fits their budget.
Roof Size
Larger roofs need more materials, which drives up the overall cost. Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components all contribute to the expense.
Roof Complexity
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and skill to complete. This added complexity increases both material and labor costs.
Michigan’s seasons have a major effect on roofing projects and their cost. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that make roofing difficult and sometimes unsafe. During this period, contractors are often harder to schedule, and prices may rise due to the added challenges.
Spring and fall are usually the best times to schedule roofing work. With mild weather and less rain, projects tend to run more smoothly, which often means better contractor availability and lower costs.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, homeowners can save money, avoid delays, and ensure their roofing projects are completed more efficiently.
Deciding whether your roof needs a repair or a full replacement brings plenty of benefits. The right choice can save you money over time and give you peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from turning into major problems that may require an expensive replacement. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re almost always less than the cost of a full roof replacement.
Choosing the right service keeps your roof doing what it’s meant to—protecting your home from leaks, mold, and the expensive problems that come with a failing roof. DIY fixes might seem simple, but it’s always best to rely on a professional roofing contractor for straightforward advice and dependable service.
Caring for your roof is really an investment in your home’s value and your peace of mind. Worried about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert guidance.
Most of Wyoming was built out in the mid-1900s, so entire ranch and bungalow neighborhoods share the same roof age. When one home on a street starts showing worn shingles, granule loss, and leaks, the neighbors usually aren’t far behind. We can inspect your roof, tell you where it sits in that timeline, and lay out whether a targeted repair or a replacement makes more sense.
Yes. Wyoming’s postwar ranch homes have shallow-pitch roofs that drain slowly, which makes worn shingles, cracked pipe boots, and tired valley flashing more likely to leak. We handle those repairs regularly, sealing the failure points and reinforcing the spots where water tends to pool or creep under the shingles on a low slope.
Wyoming gets the heavy, frequent lake-effect snow that rolls in off Lake Michigan, which piles more weight and moisture on roofs than most of Michigan sees. On the city’s older, under-insulated homes that snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that push water back up under the shingles. We repair the resulting leaks and can flag the insulation and ventilation gaps that let the dams keep forming.
Granules in the gutters mean the shingle surface is wearing down, but it doesn’t automatically mean replacement. If the loss is localized and the deck underneath is sound, a repair can extend the roof’s life. If it’s widespread across an aging postwar roof, replacement may be the smarter spend. We give you a straight read after we’re actually on the roof, not before.
Yes. From our Grand Rapids office just a few miles away, we cover all of Wyoming, from the neighborhoods along Buck Creek and the 28th Street corridor to the residential streets throughout the city. Wherever your home sits in Wyoming, we can reach it quickly for an inspection or a repair.
We’re only about seven to eight miles away, so we can usually get to Wyoming quickly after a storm. Our priority on storm calls is stopping active water intrusion first, tarping or sealing the roof the same visit when needed, then scheduling the full repair. That short distance is a big reason Wyoming homeowners aren’t left waiting.

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
