Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Hudsonville sits southwest of our Grand Rapids office at 2828 Kraft Avenue SE, about thirteen to fifteen miles out along the M-6 and M-21 corridors, roughly a twenty to twenty-five minute drive. That’s close enough that our crews handle Hudsonville’s town and rural-edge roofs without the long haul you’d get from a contractor coming from farther out.
On the older homes in town and the farmhouses on the rural edges, small leaks hide well and can work through framing before they show inside. Getting a technician on the roof quickly is what keeps a minor repair from becoming a soaked ceiling, and from Grand Rapids we can be on a Hudsonville roof within a day or two of your call.
Hudsonville is proud to be known as Michigan’s Salad Bowl, and the nickname is earned. Platted in 1873 after the railroad came through, the town drew Dutch immigrants in the 1890s who drained the surrounding Tamarack Swamp into rich muck farmland and grew celery, onions, carrots, and lettuce for the region. It incorporated as a village in 1927 and a city in 1957, and even today you’ll find orchards and vegetable fields a mile in any direction. It’s a growing Ottawa County suburb of around 7,600 with deep agricultural and Dutch roots.
That history left a real range of roofs. The older town core holds early homes with steep, detailed rooflines, the postwar growth after M-21 opened brought ranch and colonial neighborhoods, and the rural edges are dotted with farmhouses and country homes on open land. From historic town homes to open-country farmhouses, Hudsonville offers exactly the kind of varied housing where roof repair takes real experience.
The older town homes tend to leak at the details rather than the open shingles, worn chimney and step flashing and tired valley metal, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. The postwar neighborhoods bring builder-grade shingles aging on a shared timeline, and the rural farmhouses take open-country wind with no windbreak, which lifts shingles and loosens ridge caps.
West Michigan winters are hard on all of them. Hudsonville sits in the lake-effect snow belt off Lake Michigan, which drops heavier, more frequent snow than most of the state sees, melting and refreezing at the eaves into ice dams that force water up under the shingles. The low, once-swampy ground around town keeps humidity high, so flashing and shaded slopes stay damp longer. Most of it is repairable when caught early, and a quick inspection after a big storm or a hard freeze is the cheapest insurance a Hudsonville homeowner can buy.
Our crews are through Hudsonville regularly, from the town core to the farm roads on the edges, and in a close-knit community this proud of its roots, word travels fast about who does honest work. That keeps us accountable. We’d rather fix your flashing right the first time than be the name a neighbor warns you about. We’ve served Michigan homeowners since 1995, and communities like Hudsonville are exactly the kind we’re glad to reach.
Hudsonville’s weather can be tough on roofs. Hot, humid summers and long, icy winters take a toll on even the strongest roofing systems. Strong winds and storms can crack or rip away shingles, while heavy rain and ice buildup often lead to leaks or even structural damage. Clogged gutters make the problem worse, causing water to back up and raising the risk of mold.
Addressing these issues early can save you from costly repairs. If you notice any signs of damage, the smartest move is to call a professional roofer right away—before a minor issue turns into a major one.
Hudsonville’s weather puts real strain on roofs. During summer, the hot sun dries out asphalt shingles, leaving them brittle and prone to cracking. Heavy rain or hail can also clog gutters, forcing water under the shingles and causing leaks.
Winter brings its own set of problems. The weight of snow and ice puts added stress on your roof and can lead to major damage. On top of that, the freeze-and-thaw cycle causes ice to expand and contract, creating cracks that only worsen over time.
That’s why scheduling regular roof inspections is so important, especially after severe weather. Inspections help you catch small issues early, before they turn into expensive repairs.
A leaking roof can quickly cause major structural damage, which is why fast, effective repair is so important. Our team:
Uses advanced leak detection to pinpoint the exact source of the problem
Fixes damaged flashing, cracked shingles, and faulty vents that lead to leaks
Delivers long-term protection by sealing and reinforcing vulnerable areas
Your shingles are the first shield protecting your roof. With age and harsh weather, they can wear down and lose their strength. Our team:
Inspects and replaces missing, cracked, or broken shingles
Uses high-quality materials that match your existing roof
Provides routine maintenance to help extend your roof’s lifespan

Choose Roof Repairs If:
The damage is small, like a few missing shingles.
Your roof is still fairly new and in overall good shape.
A minor leak is coming from one specific, repairable spot.
Consider Roof Replacement If:
Your roof is over 20 years old and showing heavy wear.
Damage covers a large section of the roof.
The cost of repairs is close to what a full replacement would be.
Not sure what’s best? Our experts can walk you through your options and recommend the right solution for your home.
Several factors influence the cost of roof repair. The type of roofing material, the complexity of the job, and how easy it is to access the roof all make a difference. Asphalt shingles are usually the most affordable option, while slate or metal roofing often raises the overall price.
Steeper roofs or those with intricate designs typically require special tools and skilled labor, which can also add to the cost. By understanding these factors, homeowners get a clearer idea of what to expect, making it easier to plan repairs that align with both their budget and long-term needs.
Roofing Material Choices
Asphalt shingles – A budget-friendly option that’s widely used.
Slate or tile – Higher cost but extremely durable.
Knowing the cost differences helps homeowners pick the material that best fits their budget.
Roof Size
Larger roofs need more materials, which raises the overall price.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components all add to the expense.
Roof Complexity
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and skill to complete.
The added complexity drives up both material and labor costs.
In Michigan, the seasons play a major role in roofing projects and their overall cost. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, which make roofing difficult and sometimes unsafe. Because of this, contractors are often harder to book and may charge more during harsh weather conditions.
Spring and fall are usually the best times to take on roofing work. With mild temperatures and less rain, projects can move forward smoothly, leading to better contractor availability and often lower costs.
By planning around these seasonal factors, homeowners can save money, reduce delays, and ensure their roofing projects are finished more efficiently.
Deciding whether your roof needs a repair or a full replacement brings plenty of benefits. The right choice can save you money over time and give you peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from turning into major problems that may require an expensive replacement. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re almost always less than the cost of a full roof replacement.
Picking the right service helps your roof keep doing its job—protecting your home from water damage, mold, and other costly issues that come with a failing roof. While DIY fixes might look easy, it’s always smarter to trust a professional roofing contractor for honest advice and dependable service.
Remember, taking care of your roof is an investment in both your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Reach out to Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert guidance.
Yes. Hudsonville runs from an older town core to postwar neighborhoods to farmhouses and country homes on the rural edges, and we repair all of them. The older homes tend to leak at the flashing and valleys, the postwar homes at builder-grade shingles aging together, and the farmhouses take open-country wind, so we match the repair to each home and its setting.
Hudsonville sits in the lake-effect snow belt off Lake Michigan, which drops heavier, more frequent snow than most of the state sees. That snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that push water back up under the shingles, especially on homes with thin attic insulation. We repair the leaks those dams cause and can point out the insulation and ventilation gaps that let them keep forming.
It can. The rich muck ground that made Hudsonville the Salad Bowl also keeps humidity high, so flashing, valleys, and shaded north slopes stay damp longer, which speeds up corrosion and grows moss at the roof’s weak points. On lower-lying and shaded Hudsonville homes we inspect the valley metal and flashing closely, since that’s where slow, moisture-driven leaks tend to begin.
Yes. Beyond the town core, Hudsonville’s rural edges are dotted with farmhouses and country homes on open land, and we regularly repair those roofs. Open lots take wind with no windbreak, which lifts shingles and loosens ridge caps, and our crews are equipped to access and repair roofs in those rural conditions from our Grand Rapids base.
Yes. From our Grand Rapids office we cover the Hudsonville town core along the M-21 corridor and the surrounding rural and orchard areas. Whether your home is in town or out on the farm edges, we can reach it for an inspection or a repair.
Our Grand Rapids office is about thirteen to fifteen miles from Hudsonville, roughly a twenty to twenty-five minute drive along M-6 and M-21. That keeps response times reasonable for leaks and storm damage, which matters on older town homes and rural farmhouses where a small leak can spread before you notice it inside.

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
