Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Birmingham sits southwest of our Rochester office at 425 Walnut Boulevard, about ten to eleven miles away, roughly a twenty to twenty-five minute drive. That’s close enough that our crews handle Birmingham’s older homes and new luxury builds alike without the delay of a contractor coming from across the metro.
On Birmingham’s tightly built streets, where older homes sit close together and rebuilds go up alongside them, catching a leak early is what keeps it from working into the walls. Getting a technician on the roof quickly makes the difference, and from Rochester we can be on a Birmingham roof within a day or two of your call.
Birmingham sits roughly halfway between Detroit and Pontiac and is known for its upscale, walkable downtown, its shops and restaurants around Shain Park, and the Rouge River that winds through the city. Incorporated as a city in 1933, it has one of the most sought-after addresses in Oakland County and a nationally ranked school district, and its neighborhoods run from well-kept historic homes to a steady wave of teardown-and-rebuild luxury houses.
That two-sided housing stock defines the roofs. The historic homes near downtown carry older, detailed rooflines with aging flashing and valley work, while the new luxury rebuilds bring steep, complex roofs with many wings, dormers, and specialty materials. On Birmingham’s smaller, tightly spaced lots, both kinds of homes sit close to their neighbors, and both keep our crews busy. A single Birmingham block can hold a ninety-year-old home next to a two-year-old rebuild, and a roofer here has to read each one on its own terms rather than assuming every roof is the same age.
On the older homes near downtown, leaks start at the details rather than the open shingles. Worn chimney flashing, aging step flashing at the many wall-to-roof transitions, and tired valley metal are the classic Birmingham leak points, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. Water can travel through old framing before it ever shows on a ceiling.
The new luxury rebuilds bring the opposite problem, complexity. More wings, valleys, dormers, and flashing joints mean more places for water to sneak in, and step flashing where a wall or chimney meets the roof is usually where those leaks start. The Rouge River corridor and the mature street trees add humidity and debris that keep shaded slopes damp and clog valleys, and Michigan’s freeze-thaw winters drive ice dams and pry at loose flashing on both. Most of it is repairable when caught early, which is why we push homeowners not to wait on a stain that seems small.
Whether it’s a century-old home near Shain Park or a brand-new luxury rebuild, our reputation rides on doing the work right and making the repair blend in. That keeps us accountable in a community where homes are both valuable and closely watched. We match materials, do the flashing and valley work correctly, and stand behind it. Since 1995 we’ve built our name on repairs that hold, and Birmingham is exactly the kind of place that matters.
Roof problems are never convenient, but maintaining a strong roof is essential for safeguarding your home. Schoenherr Roofing is ready to assist. Whether you require a minor repair or a complete replacement, it all begins with a thorough evaluation of the damage. The type of roof, its age, and the severity of the issue all play a role in determining the best course of action.
Our team at Schoenherr Roofing provides in-depth inspections for all types of roofing systems—from asphalt shingles to metal. We identify everything from visible damage, such as missing shingles, to hidden issues like leaks in the attic. With tailored repair strategies, we restore your roof’s integrity and help ensure long-lasting protection for your home.
In Birmingham, MI, the fluctuating seasons—from hot summers to harsh winter snow and ice—can significantly impact your roof, particularly if it’s made of common materials like asphalt shingles.
High winds can tear off or loosen shingles, exposing the roof deck to moisture and leaks. During winter, snow accumulation and ice dams can obstruct proper drainage, causing water to seep into your home and potentially leading to further damage.
Ignoring early signs of roof damage, such as missing shingles, water stains, or granules in your gutters, can result in more expensive repairs or even the need for a full roof replacement. Addressing small issues early helps safeguard your home and prolong the lifespan of your roof.
Unsure when to call a roofing professional? Some signs are obvious, while others may be harder to detect. Missing, cracked, or curling shingles often indicate wear or damage. Water stains on ceilings or walls may suggest a leak. A sagging roofline could point to structural concerns. Granules from asphalt shingles in the gutters often mean the shingles are breaking down. Moss or algae growth might be a sign of trapped moisture. If your asphalt shingle roof is 20 to 25 years old, scheduling a professional inspection is a good idea to assess its condition and remaining lifespan.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we offer roof repair services tailored to the specific needs of each homeowner. We focus on more than just temporary fixes—our aim is to restore your roof’s structural integrity and provide long-term protection for your home.

On Birmingham’s historic homes near downtown, leaks usually trace back to worn chimney flashing, aging step flashing where walls meet the roof, and tired valley metal, not the open field of shingles. Decades of re-roofing can also leave layered materials and brittle underlayment. We find the actual entry point and repair it rather than patching the stain below it, and blend the shingle work into the existing roof.
Yes. The teardown-and-rebuild luxury homes going up across Birmingham have steep, complex roofs with many wings, dormers, valleys, and often specialty materials. Our crews are set up for that work, tracing leaks to the flashing and valley transitions where they start and matching the repair into the existing high-end roof so it seals and still looks right.
It can. Humidity off the Rouge River corridor and the mature street trees keep shaded north slopes damp and pack leaf litter into valleys, which speeds up moss growth and backs water up under shingles. On tree-shaded and low-lying Birmingham lots we pay close attention to the valleys and flashing, since that’s where moisture and debris-driven leaks tend to begin.
In most cases, yes. We blend replacement shingles and materials into the surrounding roof by color and profile so a repair doesn’t stand out from the street, which matters on Birmingham’s well-kept historic homes and high-value rebuilds alike. If an older or specialty material has been discontinued, we’ll show you the closest match and be upfront about how visible the repair will be.
Yes. From our Rochester office we cover all of Birmingham, from the historic streets around Shain Park and the downtown core to the neighborhoods where luxury rebuilds are going up. Wherever your home sits in the city, we can reach it quickly for an inspection or a repair.
Our Rochester office is about ten to eleven miles from Birmingham, roughly a twenty to twenty-five minute drive. On an active leak we focus on getting on the roof quickly, sealing it the same visit when needed, then scheduling the permanent repair before water works into the walls of these closely built homes.

Our experience with Schoenherr Roofing has been very pleasant. Our sales consultant, Nate and project manager, Josh H. were both professional and personable. We were very impressed with the excellent communication by Josh before, during, and after our project. The cleanup the roofing crew did was also outstanding. We love our new roof!Posted on Google![]()

I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in their services! They had great communication skills. They kept us updated with scheduling and progress pictures of what was completed. One of the days we were surprised with a terrible storm that popped up in the middle of the tear off/install. Even with the 50+ mph winds and extreme rain the guys successfully tarped off our house with no leaks! Also, they're very reasonably priced and went to great lengths to protect our landscape. Thanks for a great experience!Posted on Google![]()

I contacted Schoenherr Roofing for an estimated on replacing my roof. They sent David Schafer to my residence. Dave explained his process. He entered the attic and videoed while speaking the issues he sees. He then got on my roof and videoed everything. I also had the shed looked at. When Dave was completed, he had a video that I could see. His findings and video explaining everything was great. Dave was very professional, polite and courteous. He answered all my questions. He came prepared with what he needed to do his job. Today we happy our roof was replaced by Schoenherr Roofing! They replaced the shingles on the house, garage and shed. On the house, all wood decking was replaced with a few on the garage. Ridge vent installed on the house and garage. Crew was here early as schedule and on time. I watched this five man crew work constantly with a break for lunch. My home is a two story colonial. This crew had to carry all the lumber and shingles to the top of the roof. Shingles carried up to top of the garage as. The crew leader (Luis) was very polite. He took pictures throughout sending them to his boss Chad. Chad then forward them to me to keep me up to date. Even views from the top of the roof where I couldn’t see. The crew did an outstanding job cleaning the area upon completion. All of this work by 5 men in one day (12 hrs). I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank You to everyone involved a Schoenherr Roofing!!Posted on Google![]()

After doing some research and sifting through high presdure sales tactics from other vendors, i chose Schoenherr roofing. All of their laborers are in house employees versus 3rd party contractors. After commiting they assigned several people and kept me in the loop. During the tear out and install i was given pictoral updates on every aspect of the job, their pricing was in line with their competitors and they used state of the art materials designed for specific aspects versus 1 shingle does all. Best of all was material usage had no hidden addons and we stayed within budget, i believe 200 Lft of planking was in the quote and we used 160. No upsell on anything or special pricing tiers of quality, i got app. 1600 sqft of tier 3 impact shingled roof for $15,000.00 With drip edge and needed planking and the latest in ventilation technology. You can see in one picture the original roof in poor shape.Posted on Google![]()

Their sales rep, Leo, is helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He is clearly dedicated to his customers and is someone I could trust to provide me with an honest understanding of the whole project and its pricing. I received 5 different quotes from various local and chain roofing contractors. Schoenherr Roofing is slightly more expensive than average but their services, from start to finish, were above average. I was kept in the loop regarding every step of the process which included financing, a flexible appointment time, a pre-install and post-install inspection, material delivery, install, and clean-up. At every step they were prompt and thorough. The crew was extremely hard working and were able to set up, replace a house and garage roof, clean, and pack up in about 12 hours despite the heat. They provided me with real-time photos of their work as each step of the install was completed, which is something all construction contractors should take note of. I am happy that I paid a bit extra for the peace of mind I now have in a roof with a strong labor and material warranty installed by an experienced local business.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
