Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Hamilton sits in the farm country of Allegan County, south of Holland and about thirty-two miles from our office at 2828 Kraft Avenue SE, the closest Schoenherr location. It’s a rural community we cover as part of our West Michigan area, so a Hamilton roof problem gets real attention rather than sitting because it’s out in the country.
On the farmhouses and rural homes that make up Hamilton, water can work through original framing before it ever shows inside, and on properties spread across acres there’s no neighbor right next door to spot a problem starting. We plan the trip out efficiently and get a technician on the roof to trace the leak quickly.
Hamilton is a small, unincorporated community in Heath Township, part of the belt of Dutch-settled farming communities that spread south from Holland in the 1800s. Set along the Rabbit River in the rolling agricultural country of northern Allegan County, it has stayed a close-knit rural community anchored by its schools, its farms, and its churches, the kind of place where families have worked the same land for generations. On a farm that has been in one family that long, the house and outbuildings have usually been re-roofed more than once, and those layers of old work often hide where the next leak will start.
That rural character shapes the roofs. Hamilton is mostly farmhouses and rural homes on open and wooded lots, mixed with newer country builds, rather than uniform subdivisions. From century-old farmhouses to modern country homes, it’s exactly the kind of spread-out rural housing where getting a roofer to make the trip is half the battle, and where roof repair takes real experience with older, exposed homes.
The open farm-country setting is the main story here. Farmhouses and homes on open lots take wind with no windbreak, so we find lifted shingles and loosened ridge caps after storms, and a single storm can mark several properties across the open country at once. Wooded lots and the areas along the Rabbit River collect limbs and leaf litter in their valleys and grow moss on shaded slopes.
The older farmhouses bring the classic problems of aging homes, worn chimney and step flashing and tired valley metal where the real leaks start, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. Hamilton also sits in range of the Lake Michigan snowbelt, so heavy snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams. Most of it is repairable when caught early, and a quick inspection after a big storm is the cheapest insurance a Hamilton homeowner can buy.
Out in a rural community like Hamilton, a contractor’s name gets around fast, because neighbors talk and there aren’t many roofers who make the trip. We’d rather earn that word-of-mouth by fixing the roof correctly than lose it by cutting a corner on a farmhouse out in the country. That’s the standard we’ve held since 1995, however far the drive.
Hamilton’s weather takes a real toll on roofs. Hot, humid summers and long, icy winters can challenge even the strongest roofing systems. Strong winds and storms may crack or tear off shingles, while heavy rain and ice buildup often lead to leaks or even structural damage. When gutters get clogged, the risk increases—water backs up and can cause mold to form.
Spotting these problems early can save you from costly repairs. If you notice any signs of damage, the smartest move is to call a professional roofer right away, before a small issue turns into something much bigger.
Hamilton’s weather takes a real toll on roofs. In the summer, the intense sun dries out the asphalt in shingles, leaving them brittle and prone to cracking. Heavy rain or hail can clog gutters, forcing water under the shingles and causing leaks.
Winter brings its own problems. The weight of snow and ice puts added strain on your roof, sometimes leading to major damage. On top of that, the freeze-and-thaw cycle causes ice to expand and contract, creating cracks that only get worse over time.
That’s why scheduling regular roof inspections is so important, especially after severe weather. Inspections let you catch small issues early, before they turn into expensive repairs.
A leaking roof can quickly cause major structural damage, which is why fast, effective repair is so important. Our team:
Uses advanced leak detection to pinpoint the exact source of the problem
Fixes damaged flashing, cracked shingles, and faulty vents that lead to leaks
Delivers long-term protection by sealing and reinforcing vulnerable areas

Choose Roof Repairs If:
The damage is small, like a few missing shingles.
Your roof is still fairly new and in overall good shape.
A minor leak is coming from one specific, repairable spot.
Consider Roof Replacement If:
Your roof is over 20 years old and showing heavy wear.
Damage covers a large section of the roof.
The cost of repairs is close to what a full replacement would be.
Not sure what’s best? Our experts can walk you through your options and recommend the right solution for your home.
The cost of roof repair depends on a few key factors. The type of roofing material, the complexity of the project, and how accessible the roof is all play a role. For example, asphalt shingles are typically more affordable than slate or metal, which increases the overall price.
If a roof is steep or has a complicated design, it often requires special tools and experienced labor, which can raise the cost of repairs. Understanding these factors gives homeowners a clearer picture of what to expect, making it easier to plan repairs that fit both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Roof Complexity:
In Michigan, the seasons have a big impact on both roofing projects and their costs. Winter often brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures, making roofing work difficult and sometimes unsafe. Because of these conditions, contractors are usually less available and may charge more during harsh weather.
Spring and fall are typically the best times to schedule roofing. The mild temperatures and lower chance of rain allow projects to move forward more easily, which often means better contractor availability and lower costs overall.
When homeowners plan with these seasonal factors in mind, they can save money, avoid delays, and get their roofing projects completed more efficiently.
Deciding whether your roof needs a repair or a full replacement brings plenty of benefits. The right choice can save you money over time and give you peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from turning into major problems that may require an expensive replacement. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re almost always less than the cost of a full roof replacement.
Picking the right service helps your roof keep doing its job—protecting your home from water damage, mold, and other costly issues that come with a failing roof. While DIY fixes might look easy, it’s always smarter to trust a professional roofing contractor for honest advice and dependable service.
Remember, taking care of your roof is an investment in both your home’s value and your peace of mind. Concerned about your roof? Reach out to Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert guidance.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office is the closest Schoenherr location to Hamilton, about thirty-two miles northeast, and we cover this part of rural Allegan County. A Hamilton roof leak gets scheduled with real urgency, because water damages a country roof just as fast as a city one, and we plan the trip out efficiently rather than letting the distance become a delay.
Yes. Hamilton and the surrounding Heath Township are mostly farmhouses and rural homes on large open and wooded lots, and that’s much of what we repair out here. Those properties take more wind on exposed roofs and more tree debris on shaded ones, and our crews are equipped to access and repair roofs in rural conditions from our Grand Rapids base.
On older Hamilton farmhouses, leaks usually trace back to worn chimney flashing, aging step flashing, and tired valley metal rather than the open field of shingles, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. We trace the leak to the real entry point and repair it rather than patching the stain below it, so the fix actually stops the water.
Homes on open farmland around Hamilton take wind with no windbreak to slow it down, which lifts and tears shingles, loosens ridge caps, and can mark several open-country properties in a single storm. After a storm we look for missing and creased shingles, exposed nail heads, and damaged flashing, then make the roof watertight and repair the affected sections before water gets into the deck.
It does. Hamilton sits in range of the Lake Michigan snowbelt south of Holland, so it sees heavier snow than areas farther inland. On older, under-insulated farmhouses that snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that push water back up under the shingles. We repair the resulting leaks and can flag the insulation and ventilation gaps behind them.
Our Grand Rapids office is about thirty-two miles from Hamilton. We plan rural trips efficiently, so the distance shapes our routing rather than delaying the work. For an active leak we prioritize getting the roof watertight quickly, then schedule the permanent repair, so a Hamilton homeowner isn’t left waiting.

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
