Top 15 Highest Rated Roofers Serving Troy, MI (2026)
Finding a roofer in Troy isn’t exactly difficult. Figuring out which one you actually want working on your house is another story. There are companies
Coopersville sits about twenty miles west-northwest of our office at 2828 Kraft Avenue SE, the closest Schoenherr location, along I-96 between Grand Rapids and the lakeshore. It’s part of the West Michigan area our crews cover regularly, so a Coopersville roof problem gets real attention without the long haul a contractor from farther out would tack on.
On the older town homes and the surrounding farm properties, small leaks hide well and can work through framing before they show inside. We get a technician on the roof quickly to trace the leak, because the sooner we do, the smaller and cheaper the repair stays.
Coopersville is a small city in northern Ottawa County, sitting along I-96 in the middle of dairy and farm country between Grand Rapids and the Lake Michigan shore. It’s a community proud of its heritage, home to the Coopersville Farm Museum and the Coopersville and Marne heritage railway, and known as the hometown of rock and roll musician Del Shannon, celebrated every year at Del Shannon Days. It has stayed a close-knit town surrounded by working farms. For a roofer, that means historic in-town roofs and open-country barns and farmhouses within a few miles of each other, each one weathering the same hard West Michigan winters in its own way.
That character shapes the roofs. Coopersville mixes older town homes with detailed, aging rooflines, newer subdivisions on a shared roof-age timeline, and farmhouses and rural homes on the open land around the city. From century-old roofs to builder-grade subdivision ones to open-country farmhouses, it’s a range that keeps our crews working on more than one kind of roof.
The older town homes leak at the details rather than the open shingles, worn chimney and step flashing and tired valley metal, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. The newer subdivisions bring builder-grade shingles aging on a shared timeline, and farmhouses on open dairy-country land take wind with no windbreak, which lifts shingles and loosens ridge caps.
West Michigan winters push it further on all of them. Coopersville sits in range of the Lake Michigan snowbelt, so heavy snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that force water up under the shingles, especially on older, under-insulated homes. Most of it is repairable when caught early, and a quick inspection after a big storm is the cheapest insurance a Coopersville homeowner can buy.
We work this stretch of Ottawa County regularly, from Coopersville’s town core to the dairy roads around it, and word travels fast in a close-knit community about who does honest work. That keeps us accountable. We’d rather fix your flashing right the first time than be the name a neighbor warns you about. We’ve served Michigan homeowners since 1995, and communities like Coopersville are exactly the kind we’re glad to reach.
Coopersville’s weather takes a heavy toll on roofs. Hot, humid summers and long, icy winters can wear down even the strongest roofing systems. Strong winds and storms may crack or rip away shingles, while heavy rain and ice buildup often cause leaks or even structural damage. Clogged gutters make the problem worse, backing up water and raising the risk of mold.
Addressing these issues early can save you from costly repairs. If you notice signs of damage, the best move is to call a professional roofer right away—before a small problem turns into a major one.
Coopersville’s changing weather puts a lot of pressure on how long a roof lasts. The hot summer sun can dry out the asphalt in shingles, making them brittle and more likely to crack. Heavy rain and hail can clog gutters, forcing water to back up under the shingles and cause leaks.
Winter adds another layer of challenges. The weight of snow and ice can put serious stress on your roof, sometimes leading to major damage. On top of that, the constant freeze-and-thaw cycle wears down roofing materials—when ice expands and contracts, it creates cracks that only get worse over time.
That’s why regular roof inspections are so important, especially after extreme weather. They give you the chance to catch small issues early before they grow into costly repairs.

Choose Roof Repairs If:
The damage is minor, such as a few missing shingles
Your roof is still relatively new and in good condition overall
A small leak is coming from one specific, repairable area
Consider Roof Replacement If:
Your roof is more than 20 years old and showing significant wear
Damage spreads across a large portion of the roof
Repair costs are nearly as high as a full replacement
Not sure which option is right for you? Our experts will guide you through the choices and recommend the best solution for your home.
Roof repair costs change based on a few key factors. The roofing material, the complexity of the job, and how easy it is to access the roof all affect the price. Asphalt shingles are usually the most affordable, while slate or metal roofing can raise the overall cost.
Roofs that are steep or have intricate designs often need specialized tools and skilled labor, which can also increase expenses. Understanding these factors gives homeowners a clearer idea of what to expect, making it easier to plan ahead and choose repairs that fit both their budget and long-term goals.
Roofing Material Choices:
Roof Size:
Larger roofs need more materials, which raises the overall cost.
Extra shingles, underlayment, and other components add to the expense.
Roof Complexity:
Roofs with multiple slopes, dormers, or detailed designs take more time and skilled labor.
The added complexity increases both material and labor costs.
In Michigan, seasonal changes have a big impact on roofing projects and what they cost. Winter brings snow, ice, and freezing temperatures that can make roofing unsafe—or sometimes impossible. During these months, contractors are harder to book and may charge more because of the added difficulty.
Spring and fall are usually the best times for roofing work. Mild temperatures and lighter rainfall let projects move along more smoothly, often leading to better contractor availability and lower overall costs.
By planning around these seasonal factors, homeowners can schedule roofing projects at the right time, save money, and ensure the work is completed more efficiently.
Deciding whether your roof needs a repair or a full replacement brings plenty of benefits. The right choice can save you money over time and give you peace of mind. Quick repairs can stop small issues from turning into major problems that may require an expensive replacement. While repair costs vary depending on the damage, they’re almost always less than the cost of a full roof replacement.
Choosing the right service makes sure your roof keeps protecting your home, preventing water damage, mold, and other problems that come with a failing roof. While DIY fixes might look easy, it’s always wiser to trust a professional roofing contractor for honest advice and dependable service.
Remember—caring for your roof is an investment in both your home’s value and your peace of mind. Worried about your roof? Contact Schoenherr Roofing today for a free inspection and expert guidance.
Yes. Our Grand Rapids office is the closest Schoenherr location to Coopersville, about twenty miles east along I-96, and we cover this part of Ottawa County regularly. We schedule Coopersville repairs with real urgency and plan the trip efficiently, because a leak damages a roof just as fast here as anywhere else.
Yes. The older homes around Coopersville’s town core have detailed, aging rooflines where leaks tend to start at the flashing and valleys rather than the open shingles, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. We repair those older roofs, reseal the flashing and valleys, and blend the shingle work in so the fix seals and holds.
Yes. Coopersville is surrounded by dairy and farm country, and we regularly repair farmhouses and rural homes on open and wooded lots. Those properties take more wind on exposed roofs and more tree debris on shaded ones, and our crews are equipped to access and repair roofs in those rural conditions from our Grand Rapids base.
It does. Coopersville sits in range of the Lake Michigan snowbelt between Grand Rapids and the lake, so it sees heavier snow than areas farther inland. On homes with thin attic insulation, that snow melts and refreezes at the eaves into ice dams that push water back up under the shingles. We repair the resulting leaks and can flag the insulation and ventilation gaps behind them.
Homes on open farmland around Coopersville take wind with no windbreak to slow it down, which lifts and tears shingles, loosens ridge caps, and can mark several open-country properties in a single storm. After a storm we look for missing and creased shingles, exposed nail heads, and damaged flashing, then make the roof watertight and repair the affected sections before water gets into the deck.
Our Grand Rapids office is about twenty miles east of Coopersville along I-96. We plan West Michigan trips efficiently, so the distance shapes our routing rather than delaying the work. For an active leak we prioritize getting the roof watertight quickly, then schedule the permanent repair.

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
