Davisburg sits north of Novi, about twenty-two miles up in Springfield Township, in the rural, wooded northwest corner of Oakland County. It’s part of the area our crews cover regularly, so a Davisburg roof problem gets real attention rather than sitting because it’s out in the country.
On the farmhouses and rural homes that make up Davisburg, water can work through original framing before it ever shows inside, and on properties spread across acres there’s no neighbor right next door to spot a problem starting. We plan the trip up efficiently and get a technician on the roof to trace the leak quickly.
Davisburg is a small, unincorporated community in Springfield Township, out in the rolling, wooded, lake-dotted country of northern Oakland County near Holly and Clarkston. It’s best known as the home of Springfield Oaks County Park, where the Oakland County Fair is held each summer, and it has kept its rural character of farms, woods, and open land even as the suburbs filled in to the south. It’s the kind of place people choose for space, trees, and a slower pace.
That rural character shapes the roofs. Davisburg is mostly farmhouses and rural homes on open and wooded lots, mixed with newer country builds and some lake-area homes, rather than uniform subdivisions. Out here the nearest neighbor can be a field away, so a problem on one roof often goes unseen until the damage is well along, which is why we push for an early look. From older farmhouses to modern country homes, it’s exactly the kind of spread-out rural housing where getting a roofer to make the trip is half the battle, and where roof repair takes real experience with older, exposed homes.
The open, wooded country setting is the main story here. Farmhouses and homes on open lots take wind with no windbreak, so we find lifted shingles and loosened ridge caps after storms, and a single storm can mark several properties at once. Wooded lots drop limbs and pack leaf litter into valleys and keep shaded north slopes damp enough to grow moss, and lake-area homes take extra wind and humidity off the water.
The older farmhouses bring the classic problems of aging homes, worn chimney and step flashing and tired valley metal where the real leaks start, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. Southeast Michigan’s freeze-thaw winters pry at loose flashing and build ice dams at the eaves that force water up under the shingles. Most of it is repairable when caught early, and a quick inspection after a big storm is the cheapest insurance a Davisburg homeowner can buy.
Out in a rural community like Davisburg, a contractor’s name gets around fast, because neighbors talk and there aren’t many roofers who make the trip. We’d rather earn that word-of-mouth by fixing the roof correctly than lose it by cutting a corner on a farmhouse out in the country. That’s the standard we’ve held since 1995, however far the drive.
Roof problems can be disruptive, but keeping your roof in good condition is crucial to protecting your home. Schoenherr Roofing is ready to help. Whether it’s a minor repair or a complete replacement, the process starts with a detailed damage assessment. Factors such as roof type, age, and the extent of the damage will guide us in determining the best solution.
We inspect all types of roofing systems—shingles, metal, and more. Our team identifies both visible damage, like missing shingles, and hidden problems, such as attic leaks. Then we build a repair plan that fixes the issues and reinforces your roof for long-term protection.
In Davisburg, the fluctuating seasons—from hot summers to cold, snowy winters—can take a toll on your roof, particularly if it’s made of common materials like asphalt shingles.
Strong winds can loosen or tear shingles, exposing the roof deck to moisture and leaks. In the winter, snow buildup and ice dams can obstruct drainage, allowing water to seep into your home and potentially cause further damage.
Ignoring early signs like missing shingles, water stains, or granules in gutters can lead to costly repairs or a full replacement. Catching small problems early helps protect your home and extend your roof’s lifespan.
Not sure when to call a roofing expert? Watch for clear signs like missing, cracked, or curled shingles. Water stains on ceilings or walls may mean there’s a leak. A sagging roofline can point to structural problems. Granules in gutters often show that shingles are wearing out. Moss or algae growth can indicate trapped moisture. If your asphalt shingle roof is 20–25 years old, it’s time to get it professionally inspected to check its condition and how much life it has left.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we offer roof repair services tailored to each homeowner’s specific needs. We focus on more than temporary fixes—we work to restore your roof’s structural integrity and provide long-lasting protection for your home.

Yes. Davisburg is about twenty-two miles north of our Novi office, out in rural Springfield Township, and we cover it. A Davisburg roof leak gets scheduled with real urgency, because water damages a country roof just as fast as a city one, and we plan the trip up efficiently rather than letting the distance become a delay.
Yes. Davisburg and the surrounding Springfield Township are mostly farmhouses and rural homes on large open and wooded lots, and that’s much of what we repair out here. Those properties take more wind on exposed roofs and more tree debris on shaded ones, and our crews are equipped to access and repair roofs in rural conditions from our Novi base.
On older Davisburg farmhouses, leaks usually trace back to worn chimney flashing, aging step flashing, and tired valley metal rather than the open field of shingles, and decades of re-roofing can hide brittle underlayment underneath. We trace the leak to the real entry point and repair it rather than patching the stain below it, so the fix actually stops the water.
Homes on open and wooded lots around Davisburg take wind with no windbreak, which lifts and tears shingles and loosens ridge caps, while the woods drop limbs and pack leaf litter into valleys and grow moss on shaded slopes. After a storm we look for missing and creased shingles, exposed nail heads, and damaged flashing, then make the roof watertight and repair the affected sections before water gets into the deck.
In Southeast Michigan, roof snow melts during the day and refreezes at the cold eaves at night, building an ice dam that pushes water back up under the shingles, especially on older, under-insulated farmhouses. On wooded lots, heavy shade keeps snow on the roof longer, which can make it worse. We repair the leaks and flag the insulation and ventilation gaps behind them.
Our Novi office is about twenty-two miles from Davisburg. We plan rural trips efficiently, so the distance shapes our routing rather than delaying the work. For an active leak we prioritize getting the roof watertight quickly, then schedule the permanent repair, so a Davisburg homeowner isn’t left waiting.

My sales experience was excellent, fair discounts and no pressure. Jeff was professional and knowledgeable. My crew was amazing. Alex was the foreman and did over and above. Each crew person was assigned their areas and were focused. I have gutter filters and was concerned about potential damage, no damage they handled with care. Cleanup was great. Only found one nail on the window sil, obviously a traveler..lol. Even the dumpster guy moved it and raked for nails. Thank you again. Highly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

Schoenherr Roofing just finished replacing our roof and we can honestly say the crew did a Great job!! It started with the estimate guy Dave Schafer who took a video on top of our roof and inside our attic, next Chad the project manager came out to go over project and sent us pictures throughput their work to show the progress! Didn’t expect that and was very pleased we could see what they were doing! Plus they covered ALL our landscaping, and we had a lot, as well as a Koi pond. Everything was protected. Took them 1 full day and by noon the next all was cleaned up, very efficient and done. Dave then came back to show us the before and after video to make sure we were satisfied. We were extremely satisfied! All I can say is quality is hard to find these days and following through on the quote without asking for more money was a blessing when your only on Social Security. From our hearts, THANK YOU❣️Posted on Google![]()

From start to finish was nothing but a positive experience. Ben started our journey with helping with insurance and answering numerous phone calls and text from me. He was my initial point of contact and did an amazing job. Then Noah stepped in when everything was set up. He was prompt about coming out before the roofing job and explained everything that would happen. Noah definitely put my mind at ease. He was on point the day the job started and was prompt about checking the roof and gutters upon completion. The job went like clock work with Hecto and his crew. In one day he had my new roof on and my yard and driveway totally cleaned up. Ben and Noah did an amazing job and Schoenherr roofing definitely has quality employees working for them. I would highly recommended this company 100%. I love my new roof thank you!Posted on Google![]()

Schoenherr Roofing did a complete roof replacement on our house: 2,800 s.f. Colonial, 39 “squares,” in Troy, which was finished, on time, in 1.5 days. From the materials delivery company, to the project manager’s (PM) pre-job contacts, to the on-site workers, everyone was friendly, helpful, and easy to deal with. Although the noise WAS horrific, we knew it would be!! The finished roof looks awesome. The PM did a post-job inspection the next day to address any remaining nails on the ground (not many), and picked up excess materials not used. We are extremely satisfied with Schoenherr Roofing and would highly recommend them for a total roof replacement!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
