Old, damaged, or outdated windows might not feel urgent at first. But they have a way of snowballing into real headaches. Spiking energy bills, dropping home value, leaks eating away at your walls and floors — that’s what you’re dealing with when windows go too long without attention. And on top of that, your home just feels less comfortable and a lot noisier than it should.
The good news? There’s an easy solution. Contact the window replacement specialists at Schoenherr Roofing and let us upgrade your home with modern, attractive, energy-efficient windows. You’ll enjoy a more comfortable living space right away and stronger curb appeal when it’s time to sell.
If you want to enjoy all the benefits new windows have to offer, without dealing with the issues that come from poor installation or low-quality materials, you need to work with true window replacement professionals, like the team at Schoenherr Roofing.
Our Sterling Heights office at 42850 Schoenherr Rd sits just south of Macomb Township, about eight miles down Schoenherr and a fifteen-minute drive most days. For a township this size, that matters. A nearby crew can get out for a free measure quickly, hit the install window they promised, and swing back if a screen or a lock ever needs attention. You are working with a local team that runs these subdivisions every week, not a call center booking whoever happens to be free. The people who measure your openings are the same ones who stand behind the finished job.
Macomb Township sits at the geographic center of Macomb County, and for the last twenty-five years it has been the fastest-growing community in the state. The population jumped from around 50,000 in 2000 to more than 91,000 by 2020, which makes it the most populous township in Michigan. That growth did not creep in slowly. It arrived subdivision by subdivision, mostly off 22 Mile, 23 Mile, and Romeo Plank, as the old farm fields between the branches of the Clinton River filled with cul-de-sacs and two-story colonials. Many arrived as full planned neighborhoods built out in a single stretch, so a whole street shares not just a look but a construction date.
Because so much of the township went up in the same building boom, a huge share of its homes carry windows of the same age and the same builder-grade quality. When a whole neighborhood is stamped out in a few short years, its windows all reach the end of their useful life on the same schedule.
Those late-1990s and 2000s homes were sold with builder-grade vinyl windows, the units that keep a new-construction price down but were never the long-haul choice. Two and three decades in, the seals are letting go. You see fog and moisture trapped between the panes, sashes that no longer hold their position, and vinyl frames that have chalked or warped in the sun. On the big two-story colonials Macomb is known for, that is a lot of glass working against your energy bill at once. Add the everyday Michigan swing from humid summers to hard winters, and a tired seal shows up as a cold draft in January and condensation on the glass the rest of the year.
The fix does not have to mean the whole house in one day. We can replace the failed units first, or plan a full-home upgrade to modern, better-sealed windows that actually match the way these homes were built. The larger great-room and foyer windows common in these floor plans are where quality glass and a tight install pay off most, in comfort and in what you spend heating and cooling.
Whatever the plan, it starts with an honest measure and an install done right, so the second set of windows outlasts the builder's first by a wide margin.
Because our Sterling Heights office is right down Schoenherr, our crews are through Macomb, Shelby, and the rest of the county constantly. We finish jobs the neighbors notice, and in fast-growing subdivisions word travels quick. That keeps our work honest, and it is the simplest reason to trust a nearby team inside your home.
In fact, there are several reasons to choose Schoenherr Roofing for all your window replacement needs, including:
Unfortunately, many homeowners miss the warning signs that their existing windows aren’t performing the way they should. Keep an eye out for the following issues so you’ll know when it’s time to replace your windows.
Standing near your windows in winter and feeling a cold draft? Or a wave of heat in summer? That's usually your seals giving out or your insulation failing to do its job.
When windows get old and inefficient, your HVAC system has to pick up the slack — and that extra effort shows up on your monthly energy bill.
Moisture trapped between the panes is usually a sign of a broken seal, and that can seriously reduce the window’s ability to insulate your home.
Windows that stick, jam, or won’t stay open often point to warped frames, worn-out hardware, or underlying structural issues that make replacement the smarter option.
Cracked or rotting window frames don't just look bad — they let moisture in, weaken your home's structure, and turn into expensive repair jobs if you ignore them long enough.
If outside noise passes easily through your windows, they may be outdated or have only a single pane of glass that offers very little sound insulation.
Too much UV light coming through aging windows can cause interior furnishings, flooring, and finishes to fade and wear over time.
Water stains, bubbling paint, or damp drywall around your windows are usually telling you the same thing — the seals are failing or the installation wasn't done right.
Wanting to save money on window installation makes total sense. But a lot of homeowners find out the hard way that going cheap upfront usually costs more later. Instead of comfortable, energy-efficient windows they actually love, they’re stuck dealing with drafts, sticking frames, and moisture problems they didn’t sign up for.
That’s not something you’ll run into with Schoenherr Roofing. We handle window installation and replacement the right way, using high-quality windows built for real comfort, performance, and efficiency. Reach out today to schedule your free estimate and find out what your home’s windows should actually be doing for you.
Most homeowners see clear benefits when they upgrade their home’s windows. But Macomb homeowners often gain even more, thanks to Michigan’s unique mix of environmental and regional factors. In fact, there are six reasons homeowners in The Great Lakes State should always choose premium windows, including:
Macomb winters are brutal, and summers aren’t much easier. High-quality windows help your home stay comfortable all year by holding heat in during the cold months and keeping it out when things heat up.
Along with keeping indoor temperatures more stable, sealed, energy-efficient windows with insulated glass reduce the strain on your HVAC system. That added efficiency can help Macomb homeowners lower energy costs throughout the year.
Snow, ice, heavy rain, and other forms of precipitation are all common in Macomb. Well-built windows that are properly sealed and designed to drain correctly help keep water out, preventing issues like rot, mold growth, and moisture damage.
Macomb’s constant freeze-thaw cycles are tough on window frames and seals — that repeated expansion and contraction adds up over time. Durable, professionally installed windows are built to handle exactly that kind of stress and hold up through years of harsh weather.
When you’re focused on protecting your home’s value or getting ready to sell in Macomb’s competitive market, every advantage counts. New, modern windows enhance your home’s appearance and can help boost its resale value.
We take pride in providing solutions that are tailored to each homeowner and treating every project as the unique job it is. At the same time, over the last 30 years, we’ve developed a proven, consistent process that serves our customers well and helps ensure they receive the high-quality window solutions they deserve.
Unlike some window installation companies, the team at Schoenherr Roofing understands that your home is truly one of a kind. We don’t push cookie-cutter solutions. Instead, we take the time to discuss your needs, evaluate your home, and recommend custom window installation or replacement options that make sense for your specific situation.
Contact us today to see the Schoenherr Roofing difference yourself!
The team at Schoenherr Roofing can take care of all your window installation and replacement needs, whether for a residential or commercial property. Some of the window services we most commonly provide include:
We offer professional window installation for new construction, home additions, and remodeling projects. Every window is properly flashed, insulated, and sealed to deliver long-lasting performance, strong energy efficiency, and a finished look that complements your home.
Our window replacement services include removing old, damaged, or underperforming windows and installing modern, energy-efficient replacements. The result is fewer drafts, reduced condensation, less outside noise, and a home that feels more comfortable overall.
Pocket window replacement is a budget-friendly option that keeps your existing frame in place and swaps out just the window sash. Less disruption, better insulation, improved appearance, and stronger overall performance.
Schoenherr Roofing installs premium ENERGY STAR–rated windows designed to significantly reduce heat transfer. This can result in lower monthly energy bills, improved indoor comfort throughout the year, and potential eligibility for federal tax rebates.
Our vinyl window installation services give homeowners the opportunity to enjoy durable, low-maintenance windows that resist warping, cracking, and moisture damage over time, while still offering a wide selection of window styles and color options.
Double-hung windows let you open both the top and bottom sashes independently — a small feature that makes a big difference. You get better ventilation, more flexibility, and windows that are a lot easier to clean and maintain.
Single- and double-hung windows aren’t the right fit for every space, which is why we also install smooth-sliding windows and crank-operated casement windows. These options provide wide, unobstructed views, excellent airflow, and secure locking systems that improve both comfort and safety.
Want more natural light, a little extra space, and a serious boost to your curb appeal? Custom bay and bow windows deliver all three. They work especially well in living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.
Window sealing and weatherproofing provide a quicker, more affordable way to stop drafts, reduce moisture intrusion, and protect your home from water damage. At the same time, these services improve indoor comfort and help keep heating and cooling costs under control.
Storm windows are a smart choice for Macomb homeowners. When installed properly, they cut down on drafts, boost energy efficiency, and give your primary windows an extra layer of protection against wind, rain, and snow — helping them last longer in the process.
Not every aging or damaged window needs to be replaced, which is why we offer a full range of window repair services. Our approach focuses on replacing specific components—such as frames, sashes, hardware, and seals—to restore performance and comfort without unnecessary replacement.
Still have questions about window installation or replacement in Macomb? We’ve rounded up a few of the most common questions our customers have and answered them below.
Macomb Township is served from our Sterling Heights office at 42850 Schoenherr Rd, only about eight miles south and a fifteen-minute drive. Because we are close, a free in-home estimate is easy to book the same week, and any follow-up is a short trip rather than a cross-county haul.
Unfortunately, yes. Most homes built during Macomb’s late-1990s and 2000s boom came with builder-grade vinyl windows, and their sealed glass units commonly fail at twenty to thirty years. Fog or moisture between the panes means the seal is gone and the window has stopped insulating, which is a very common call for us in these neighborhoods.
You can start with the worst. Many Macomb homeowners replace the failed or fogged units first and phase the rest over time, though a whole-home project is usually more cost-effective per window. We will lay out both options honestly so you can choose what fits your budget.
Yes. The tall foyer and great-room window walls in these floor plans are some of the most common projects we handle here, and they are also where a tight, correct install matters most. That large expanse of glass drives a big share of your heating and cooling, so quality units and proper sealing pay off quickly.
Once the sealed glass unit fails and fogs, it cannot be reliably resealed; the fix is a new unit. The good news is that replacing builder-grade windows with modern, better-built units usually means a noticeable jump in comfort and efficiency, since the originals were chosen to hit a new-construction price, not to last.
They can. ENERGY STAR-rated windows may qualify for federal energy-efficiency tax credits, and utility rebates come and go. We install ENERGY STAR-rated units and can point you toward what is currently available, though we always recommend confirming the details with a tax professional.

From beginning to end the experience was great. The person who came out to look at my roof and give me a price was professional and clearly explained what would be done. He even took pictures in my attic to show me problem areas. The job overseer contacted me before to tell me the planned schedule and was in touch during the process. The dumpster contact let me know when it would be dropped off. The crew showed up on time and worked very hard for the two days it took to do my roof. They protected the plants and landscape lighting I was concerned about and cleaned up well after. The overseer came after the installation to make sure everything was completed. This company was a bit more expensive than the other one I was considering but it was worth it for the quality experience.Posted on Google![]()

Awesome is the word that comes to mind for Schoenherr Roofing! From Leo @ the beginning to explain everything to us about the product, then to Joshua who facilitated the process, and Ingrid who was our foreman on the job. From the permits, to making final decisions on our roof color "Summer Harvest" Everything was brought up to code. It was so streamlined down to Bryan our dumpster guy dropping off and picking up. You don't do a new roof everyday and we wanted it done right. Thank you for going above and Beyond! You are a credit to the industry!Posted on Google![]()

It was a pleasure doing business with SCHOENHERR ROOFING we can’t say enough about your project manager, Matt. He was so efficient keeping us up on every step-by-step and what to expect each day. He followed up numerous times on the progress. Hector and his crew were very careful with the protection of our windows and our barbecue around the house. They were fast and efficient. It is sometimes difficult to find a company that is honest and does what they say they’re going to do. We would highly recommend SCHOENHERR ROOFING to our family and friends! God bless and keep up the good work! PS Matt came by to make sure there weren’t any nails in the driveway or on our patio and recheck the roof - Love that guy!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Alex and the Schoenherr Roofing crew did a really good job on our new roof, which is somewhat complicated with several gables, a portion that is flat and another area with a 2-12 pitch. We weren't able to be present during the work but Project Manager Dan routinely communicated by sending texts and photos. The 350 sq ft flat roof received a custom rebuild, using the EPDM system which created new low slopes with insulating board underneath. The crew did a great job installing a new skylite and installing the Deck-Air vent system for the house's low slopes. The rows of shingles are straight as are the ridge vents and Deck-Air vents. The dumpster was brought in as a large 4 wheeled trailer, so there was no effect on our asphalt, and it was removed promptly. Alex and his crew replaced rotten OSB and 1 x 6 roof boards, and improved a chimney flashing and cricket which has been a problem for years. They were careful of landscaping. Most of the work was done in about 2 days. The new roof looks great and we can certainly recommend Schoenherr Roofing.Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
