Aging, damaged, or outdated windows may not seem like a major concern at first, but they can quickly lead to bigger problems. Rising energy bills, reduced home value, and leaks that damage walls and floors are just a few of the issues older windows can create. They can also make your home feel less comfortable and noticeably louder than it should be.
The good news? There’s an easy fix. Reach out to the window replacement specialists at Schoenherr Roofing and let us upgrade your home with modern, attractive, energy-efficient windows. You’ll notice a more comfortable living space right away and enjoy stronger curb appeal when it’s time to sell.
If you want to enjoy all the benefits new windows have to offer, without dealing with the issues that come from poor installation or low-quality materials, you need to work with true window replacement professionals, like the team at Schoenherr Roofing.
Fraser shares a border with Sterling Heights, so our office at 42850 Schoenherr Rd is only about six miles away, a ten to fifteen minute drive. That makes Fraser one of the quickest communities for us to reach. A free estimate is easy to schedule right away, the crew arrives when promised, and a follow-up visit is a short hop rather than a special trip. You work with a local team that is practically in the neighborhood, not a call center booking whoever is free.
Fraser began as a small settlement in the 1800s and stayed a village until it became a city in 1956, right in the middle of the postwar boom that filled southern Macomb County with young families. The neighborhoods that went up then are the heart of the city today: tidy brick ranches and modest homes laid out on a neat grid between 13 Mile and 15 Mile. It is a settled, family-minded suburb where many homes have been lived in and cared for for decades. It is the kind of community where the same families stay for years, which is why so many homes are now reaching the point where the original windows finally need to go.
That postwar vintage is exactly why windows come up so often. The original windows in a home built in the 1950s or 1960s have been opened, closed, and weathered for more than half a century, and they are well past their prime.
The ranches here were built with the long, low windows typical of the era, and many still have their original units, along with the aluminum sliding windows that were popular at the time. Aluminum frames conduct cold straight through the metal and sweat with condensation in winter, while old single-pane glass lets heat pour out. We replace both with modern, insulated windows, and the switch from single-pane to sealed double glass makes an immediate difference in comfort and usually in the heating bill.
A good replacement is also a clean one. Our crews remove the old windows and install the new ones without tearing up the plaster or drywall around the opening, and we haul the old units away and clean up when the job is done. On a compact ranch, the work often moves quickly, so the disruption is short and the result lasts for decades. Being this close also means that if a screen or a lock ever needs attention down the road, we are only minutes away.
Every job starts with an honest measure and windows sized to fit the home you actually have.
Because our Sterling Heights office is only minutes away, our crews are through Fraser constantly and finish jobs the neighbors notice. On close, settled streets, a well-done window job is seen by the whole block, and that keeps our standards high. It is the simplest reason to trust a nearby team inside your home.
In fact, there are several reasons to choose Schoenherr Roofing for all your window replacement needs, including:
Unfortunately, many homeowners overlook the warning signs that their current windows aren’t performing as they should. Watch for the following issues so you’ll know when it’s time to replace your windows.
If you feel cold air in the winter or warm air in the summer when you’re standing near your windows, it’s often a sign the seals are beginning to fail or the insulation isn’t doing its job properly.
Old, inefficient windows make your heating and cooling system work harder than it should, which often results in higher monthly energy bills.
Moisture trapped between the panes is usually a sign of a failed seal, and it can greatly reduce the window’s ability to properly insulate your home.
Windows that stick, jam, or refuse to stay open usually signal warped frames, worn hardware, or deeper structural problems—issues that often make full window replacement the more practical choice.
Cracked or rotting window frames can allow moisture inside, weaken your home’s structure, and lead to costly repairs if the problem isn’t addressed.
If outside noise slips right through your windows, it’s often a sign they’re outdated or built with just a single pane of glass, which does little to block sound.
When aging windows let in too much UV light, it can slowly fade your interior furnishings, flooring, and finishes, leaving them looking worn long before they should.
Water stains, bubbling paint, or damp drywall near windows can indicate failing seals or improper installation.
Wanting to save money on window installation or replacement makes total sense. Still, a lot of homeowners find out the hard way that choosing the cheapest option can create bigger problems later on. Instead of enjoying energy-efficient, great-looking windows, they’re left dealing with sticking sashes, constant drafts, and moisture sneaking into places it shouldn’t.
That’s not a concern when you work with Schoenherr Roofing. We offer professional window installation and replacement services using high-quality windows designed to deliver the comfort, performance, and efficiency your home should have. Contact us today to schedule your free estimate and learn how to get real, long-term value from your window investment.
Most homeowners see clear benefits when they upgrade their home’s windows. But Fraser homeowners often see even greater advantages, thanks to Michigan’s unique mix of environmental and regional factors. In fact, there are six reasons homeowners in The Great Lakes State should always choose premium windows, including:
Fraser homes face freezing winters and hot, humid summers. High-quality windows help keep indoor temperatures steady all year by cutting heat loss in the winter and reducing heat gain during the summer.
Along with keeping indoor temperatures more stable, sealed, energy-efficient windows with insulated glass reduce the strain on your HVAC system. That added efficiency can help Fraser homeowners lower energy costs throughout the year.
Snow, ice, heavy rain, and other forms of precipitation are common in Fraser. Well-built windows that are properly sealed and designed to drain correctly help keep water out, reducing the risk of rot, mold growth, and moisture damage.
Fraser’s constant freeze-thaw cycles put serious stress on window frames and seals, which can turn into expensive problems over time. Durable, professionally installed windows are made to handle that repeated expansion and contraction while holding up to years of harsh weather.
When you’re focused on protecting your home’s value or getting ready to sell in Fraser‘s competitive market, every advantage counts. New, modern windows enhance your home’s appearance and can help boost its resale value.
We take pride in providing solutions that are tailored to each homeowner and treating every project as the unique job it is. At the same time, over the last 30 years, we’ve developed a proven, consistent process that serves our customers well and helps ensure they receive the high-quality window solutions they deserve.
Unlike some window installation companies, the team at Schoenherr Roofing knows your home is truly one of a kind. We don’t rely on cookie-cutter solutions. Instead, we take the time to talk through your needs, evaluate your home, and recommend custom window installation or replacement options that make sense for your specific situation.
Contact us today to see the Schoenherr Roofing difference yourself!
The team at Schoenherr Roofing is equipped to take care of all your window installation and replacement needs, whether it’s a residential or commercial property. Some of the window services we provide most often include:
We provide professional window installation for new construction, home additions, and remodeling projects. Each window is carefully flashed, insulated, and sealed to ensure lasting performance, solid energy efficiency, and a clean, finished look that fits your home perfectly.
Our window replacement services focus on removing old, damaged, or underperforming windows and installing modern, energy-efficient replacements in their place. The result? Fewer drafts, less condensation, reduced outside noise, and a home that simply feels more comfortable.
Pocket window replacement is a cost-effective option compared to a full replacement. It keeps the existing frame in place while replacing only the window sash, minimizing disruption and still improving insulation, appearance, and overall performance.
Schoenherr Roofing installs premium ENERGY STAR–rated windows designed to significantly reduce heat transfer. This can result in lower monthly energy bills, improved indoor comfort throughout the year, and potential eligibility for federal tax rebates.
Our vinyl window installation services let homeowners enjoy durable, low-maintenance windows that stand up to warping, cracking, and moisture damage over time, all while offering a wide range of window styles and color options to choose from.
A popular option that allows both the top and bottom sashes to open independently, double-hung window replacement offers added versatility, improves your home’s ventilation, and makes window cleaning and maintenance much easier.
Single- and double-hung windows aren’t the best fit for every space, which is why we also install smooth-sliding windows and crank-operated casement windows. These options provide wide, unobstructed views, strong airflow, and secure locking systems that boost both comfort and safety.
For homeowners looking to bring in more natural light, add usable space, and boost curb appeal, custom bay and bow windows can be an excellent solution. These window styles work especially well in living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.
Window sealing and weatherproofing offer a faster, more affordable way to stop drafts, reduce moisture intrusion, and protect your home from water damage. At the same time, these services improve indoor comfort and help keep heating and cooling costs under control.
A popular choice for Fraser homeowners, properly installed storm windows help cut down on drafts, improve window energy efficiency, and add an extra layer of protection against wind, rain, and snow—while also helping extend the life of your primary windows.
Not every aging or damaged window needs to be replaced, which is why we offer a complete range of window repair services. Our approach centers on replacing specific components—such as frames, sashes, hardware, and seals—to restore performance and comfort without unnecessary replacement.
Still have questions about window installation or replacement in Fraser? We’ve rounded up a few of the most common questions our customers have and answered them below.
Quickly. Fraser borders Sterling Heights, so our office is only about six miles away, a ten to fifteen minute drive. That makes Fraser one of the fastest communities for us to reach for an estimate, an install, or a follow-up visit.
Yes. Those low, wide ranch windows are common across Fraser, and we replace them with modern insulated units sized to the existing openings. You keep the clean ranch look while gaining far better sealing and efficiency than the originals ever had.
We replace old aluminum sliders with modern insulated windows, whether new sliders, double-hungs, or casements depending on your preference. Aluminum frames conduct cold and sweat with condensation, so almost any modern replacement will feel warmer and perform better.
Usually yes. Single-pane windows let a lot of heat escape in winter and let it in during summer. Moving to sealed, insulated double glass cuts that loss significantly, and many Fraser homeowners notice the difference in both comfort and their energy bills.
Yes. Our crews are careful to remove the old windows and fit the new ones without tearing up the interior plaster or drywall around the opening. A clean install is part of doing the job right, and we finish and tidy up so the room looks the way it should.
We handle it. When the new windows are in, we remove the old units, haul them away, and clean up the work area, so you are not left with a pile of old windows to deal with. The job is not done until the site is left clean.

I’d give more stars, but 5 seems to be the limit. From the time I first called to schedule an inspection of the roof until the work was completed and I was paying the bill, Schoenherr was nothing but professional. Everyone went out of their way to make the entire job as easy on us as it could be. They handled everything perfectly, promptly and professionally. The project manager Josh, was on top of everything that was happening and kept us updated throughout the entire process. As soon as there was anything to report he was in contact. I really appreciated the voluminous amount of photos I received. (Before, during and after) The place was looking cleaner when they were done than it was before they started. If only every contractor would be as easy to work with.Posted on Google![]()

Schoenherr Roofing did a complete roof replacement on our house: 2,800 s.f. Colonial, 39 “squares,” in Troy, which was finished, on time, in 1.5 days. From the materials delivery company, to the project manager’s (PM) pre-job contacts, to the on-site workers, everyone was friendly, helpful, and easy to deal with. Although the noise WAS horrific, we knew it would be!! The finished roof looks awesome. The PM did a post-job inspection the next day to address any remaining nails on the ground (not many), and picked up excess materials not used. We are extremely satisfied with Schoenherr Roofing and would highly recommend them for a total roof replacement!Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
