Armada sits up in the farm country of northern Macomb County, about ten miles east of our Romeo headquarters at 102 W St Clair St, roughly a twenty-minute drive. For a rural village this size, having the crew based that close is a genuine advantage. Plenty of window companies treat Armada as too far out to bother with. We do not, because we are already nearby. A free estimate is easy to schedule, the crew shows up when promised, and if you ever need us back, it is a short trip rather than a special one.
Armada was founded in 1833 as Burke's Corners and grew up as a marketing center for the rich farmland around it. Today it is a compact village of fewer than 1,700 people, best known for the Armada Fair each August, one of the last true country fairs in the region. Around the little village core spread the open farms, orchards, and larger parcels of Armada Township, with the Macomb Orchard Trail running nearby. People settle out here for the space and the small-town rhythm, and many of the homes have stood for generations.
That history sits right in the windows. Homes in the old village were built in an era of single-pane wood sash, and the farmhouses out on the township's land were built to the same standard. A century or more later, those windows are working hard just to keep the weather out.
In the older village homes, you find true wood windows with thin single-pane glass that sticks, rattles, and leaks heat, and rots at the sill after generations of Michigan weather. Replacing them well means matching the style so the home keeps its historic character while finally sealing tight. Out on the open farmland, the problem is exposure. Wind crosses the fields with nothing to slow it and finds every worn sash, so tight, insulated units make a real difference in comfort and heating cost.
Where a home's frames have already rotted or the sills are soft, a full replacement is usually the honest answer, since patching worn wood rarely lasts. And if replacing every window at once is more than the budget allows, we can phase the work and start with the rooms that need it most. Tight, correctly installed, insulated windows quiet the rattling and take a real bite out of what it costs to keep a farmhouse warm through a long winter. On outbuildings, additions, and enclosed porches, we can bring the whole property up to the same tight standard.
Every job starts with an honest measure and an install that respects how the home was built.
Because Romeo is just down the road, our crews are through this corner of Macomb County regularly and finish work the whole village can see. In a small farming community, a job done well is the best reference there is. That keeps our standards high, however far north the address.
In fact, there are several reasons to choose Schoenherr Roofing for all your window replacement needs, including:
Unfortunately, many homeowners miss the warning signs that their existing windows aren’t performing the way they should. Keep an eye out for the following issues so you’ll know when it’s time to replace your windows.
If you feel cold air in the winter or warm air in the summer when you’re standing near your windows, it’s a good sign the seals may be failing or the insulation isn’t doing its job.
Old, inefficient windows force your heating and cooling system to work harder than it should, which often leads to higher monthly energy bills.
Moisture trapped between the panes is usually a sign of a broken seal, and that can seriously reduce the window’s ability to insulate your home.
Windows that stick, jam, or won’t stay open often have warped frames, worn out hardware, or structural issues that warrant replacement.
Cracked or rotting window frames can allow moisture to get inside, weaken your home’s structure, and lead to costly repairs if the problem isn’t addressed.
If outside noise comes through your windows with ease, they may be outdated or only have a single pane of glass that doesn’t offer much sound insulation.
Too much UV light coming through aging windows can cause interior furnishings, flooring, and finishes to fade and wear over time.
Water stains, bubbling paint, or damp drywall near windows can indicate failing seals or improper installation.
Wanting to save money on window installation or replacement is completely understandable. Unfortunately, many homeowners find out the hard way that choosing the cheapest option often leads to bigger problems down the road. Instead of enjoying energy-efficient, attractive windows, they’re left dealing with sticking windows, ongoing drafts, and moisture getting into places it shouldn’t.
That’s not a concern when you work with Schoenherr Roofing. We offer expert window installation and replacement services and use only high-quality windows designed to deliver the comfort, performance, and efficiency your home deserves. Most homeowners see clear benefits when they upgrade their home’s windows. But Armada homeowners often gain even more, thanks to Michigan’s unique mix of environmental and regional factors. In fact, there are six reasons homeowners in The Great Lakes State should always choose premium windows, including:
Armada homes deal with freezing winters and hot, humid summers. High-quality windows help keep indoor temperatures steady year-round by reducing heat loss during winter and limiting heat gain in the summer.
Along with keeping indoor temperatures more stable, sealed, energy-efficient windows with insulated glass reduce the workload on your HVAC system. That improved efficiency can help Armada homeowners cut energy costs throughout the year.
Snow, ice, heavy rain, and other forms of precipitation are all common in Armada. Well-built windows that are properly sealed and designed to drain correctly help keep water out, preventing issues like rot, mold growth, and moisture damage.
Armada’s constant freeze-thaw cycles put a lot of stress on window frames and seals, which can lead to costly issues over time. Durable, professionally installed windows are built to handle that expansion and contraction and stand up to long-term weather exposure.
When you’re working to protect your home’s value or getting ready to sell in Armada’s competitive market, every advantage counts. New, modern windows improve your home’s appearance and can help increase its resale value.

The team at Schoenherr Roofing can handle all of your window installation and replacement needs, whether for a residential or commercial property. Some of the window services we most commonly provide include:
We offer professional window installation for new construction, home additions, and remodeling projects. Every window is properly flashed, insulated, and sealed to deliver long-lasting performance, strong energy efficiency, and a finished look that complements your home.
Our window replacement services include removing old, damaged, or underperforming windows and installing modern, energy-efficient replacements. The result is fewer drafts, reduced condensation, less outside noise, and a home that feels more comfortable overall.
Pocket window replacement is a cost-effective option compared to full replacement. It keeps the existing frame in place and replaces only the window sash, which reduces disruption while improving insulation, appearance, and overall performance.
Schoenherr Roofing installs premium ENERGY STAR–rated windows that are built to significantly reduce heat transfer. This can lead to lower monthly energy bills, better indoor comfort year-round, and potential eligibility for federal tax rebates.
Our vinyl window installation services give homeowners the opportunity to enjoy durable, low-maintenance windows that resist warping, cracking, and moisture damage over time, while still offering a wide range of window styles and color options.
A popular option that allows both the top and bottom sashes to open independently, double-hung window replacement provides versatility, improves your home’s ventilation, and makes both the cleaning and maintenance of your windows much easier.
Single- and double-hung windows aren’t the right choice for every space, which is why we also install smooth-sliding windows and crank-operated casement windows. These options offer wide, unobstructed views, excellent airflow, and secure locking systems that enhance both comfort and safety.
For homeowners who want to bring in more natural light, add usable space, and boost curb appeal, custom bay and bow windows can be a great solution. These window styles work especially well in living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.
Window sealing and weatherproofing offer a faster, more affordable way to stop drafts, limit moisture intrusion, and protect your home from water damage. At the same time, these services improve indoor comfort and help keep heating and cooling costs under control.
A popular choice among Armada homeowners, properly installed storm windows help to reduce drafts, improve your window’s energy efficiency, and provide more defense against wind, rain, and snow, while also helping extend the life of your primary windows.
Not every aging or damaged window needs to be replaced, which is why we offer a full range of window repair services. Our approach focuses on replacing specific components—such as frames, sashes, hardware, and seals—to restore performance and comfort without unnecessary replacement.
Still have questions about window installation or replacement in Armada? We’ve rounded up a few of the most common questions our customers have and answered them below.
We do. Armada is only about ten miles east of our Romeo headquarters, roughly a twenty-minute drive. Many companies treat it as too far out, but we are close by, so scheduling an estimate and coming back if needed is no trouble.
Yes. We match the style, proportions, and grille patterns of a home’s original windows so an older Armada village home keeps its historic character while gaining a tight, modern seal. Keeping the look is part of doing the job right on an older home.
Yes. Out on open farmland the wind finds every worn sash and single-pane gap, which is why these homes feel drafty. Tight, insulated windows with solid weatherstripping stop that air leakage and hold heat far better through the winter.
Usually, yes. Once the wood has rotted or the sills have gone soft, patching rarely holds for long, and the rot lets in more moisture and cold over time. A full replacement with a properly sealed, insulated unit is the honest long-term fix.
Yes. Many farmhouse and village owners phase the work, starting with the coldest rooms or the worst windows and completing the rest over time. You get relief where it matters most and can spread the investment to fit your budget.
They can make a real difference. Old single-pane windows and worn sashes lose a great deal of heat, and out on exposed farmland that loss is worse. Tight, insulated replacements cut it substantially, which usually shows up in the winter heating bills.
