Old, damaged, or outdated windows might not feel urgent at first. But they have a way of snowballing into real headaches. Spiking energy bills, dropping home value, leaks eating away at your walls and floors — that’s what you’re dealing with when windows go too long without attention. And on top of that, your home just feels less comfortable and a lot noisier than it should.
The good news? There’s an easy solution. Contact the window replacement specialists at Schoenherr Roofing and let us upgrade your home with modern, attractive, energy-efficient windows. You’ll enjoy a more comfortable living space right away and stronger curb appeal when it’s time to sell.
Our home office sits at 102 W St Clair St in downtown Romeo, and Metamora is one of the closest communities we cover from there. The drive runs about 23 miles up M-24 through Oxford, roughly 35 to 40 minutes door to door. That matters more than it sounds. When your window estimate comes from the nearest crew instead of a call center two counties away, you get a real appointment window, an installer who knows Lapeer County back roads, and a team that can swing back through if you ever need a follow-up. We are not handing your job off to whoever happens to be free that week. The same Schoenherr people who measure your openings are the ones who stand behind the finished work.
Metamora took its name from a word meaning "among the hills," and anyone who has driven the rolling country roads out here knows why. The village was settled in 1843 and incorporated in 1885, and the Metamora Crossroads Historic District at Oak and High Street still holds 15 buildings put up between 1850 and 1910. Growth in that little core stopped before World War I, which is exactly why so much of the early architecture is still standing today.
Around the village, the township spreads across roughly 35 square miles of open farmland, wooded acreage, and the horse country that made the Metamora Hunt a tradition for generations. Homes out here run the full range, from century farmhouses and preserved village houses to newer custom builds on wide lots with long views toward the pastures and the higher ground near Lake Metamora.
That mix is the whole story when it comes to windows. A preserved 1880s house and a newer home on an exposed hilltop carry very different glass, and they wear out in very different ways.
In the older village and farmhouse homes, you are often looking at original or early wood sash: single-pane glass, rope-and-weight balances, and frames that have taken more than a century of Michigan weather. They rattle, they stick, they leak air, and the wood tends to rot at the sill first. You do not have to gut a historic home to fix that. Pocket replacements drop modern, sealed units into the existing openings, and properly fitted storm windows add a layer of protection while keeping the character of the house intact.
Out on the open lots, the issue is exposure. Homes sitting up on Metamora's higher elevations catch wind that sheltered subdivision houses never feel, and that wind finds every tired seal and loose sash. Tight, well-installed frames put a stop to the rattle and the draft. On the country builds with big picture, bay, or bow windows framing the view, that large span of glass is where comfort and fading are won or lost, so the quality of the seal and the install really counts.
Whatever your house is, the fix starts the same way: measuring it honestly and installing it right the first time, so the openings perform for decades instead of years.
Because Romeo is right down the road, our installers are out in Lapeer County all the time. We drive these roads, we finish jobs the neighbors can see, and word travels fast in a community this size. That keeps our work honest, and it is the plainest reason to trust a nearby team inside your home.
If you want to enjoy all the benefits new windows have to offer, without dealing with the issues that come from poor installation or low-quality materials, you need to work with true window replacement professionals, like the team at Schoenherr Roofing.
In fact, there are several reasons to choose Schoenherr Roofing for all your window replacement needs, including:
Unfortunately, many homeowners miss the warning signs that their existing windows aren’t performing the way they should. Keep an eye out for the following issues so you’ll know when it’s time to replace your windows.
Standing near your windows in winter and feeling a cold draft? Or a wave of heat in summer? That's usually your seals giving out or your insulation failing to do its job.
When windows get old and inefficient, your HVAC system has to pick up the slack — and that extra effort shows up on your monthly energy bill.
Moisture between the panes almost always means a broken seal — and once that happens, your window's ability to insulate takes a real hit.
Windows that stick, jam, or won't stay open aren't just annoying — they usually point to warped frames, worn-out hardware, or structural issues underneath. At that point, replacement is often the smarter call.
Cracked or rotting window frames don't just look bad — they let moisture in, weaken your home's structure, and turn into expensive repair jobs if you ignore them long enough.
If street noise or outside sounds cut right through your windows, chances are they're outdated or single-pane — and single-pane glass does almost nothing to block sound.
Too much UV light coming through aging windows can cause interior furnishings, flooring, and finishes to fade and wear over time.
Water stains, bubbling paint, or damp drywall around your windows are usually telling you the same thing — the seals are failing or the installation wasn't done right.
Wanting to save money on window installation makes total sense. But a lot of homeowners find out the hard way that going cheap upfront usually costs more later. Instead of comfortable, energy-efficient windows they actually love, they’re stuck dealing with drafts, sticking frames, and moisture problems they didn’t sign up for.
That’s not something you’ll run into with Schoenherr Roofing. We handle window installation and replacement the right way, using high-quality windows built for real comfort, performance, and efficiency. Reach out today to schedule your free estimate and find out what your home’s windows should actually be doing for you.
Most homeowners see clear benefits when they upgrade their home’s windows. But Metamora homeowners often gain even more, thanks to Michigan’s unique mix of environmental and regional factors. In fact, there are six reasons homeowners in The Great Lakes State should always choose premium windows, including:
Metamora winters are brutal, and summers aren’t much easier. High-quality windows help your home stay comfortable all year by holding heat in during the cold months and keeping it out when things heat up.
Energy-efficient windows with insulated glass do more than keep temperatures steady — they take real pressure off your HVAC system. For Metamora homeowners, that means lower energy costs all year long.
Snow, ice, heavy rain, and other forms of precipitation are all common in Metamora. Well-built windows that are properly sealed and designed to drain correctly help keep water out, preventing issues like rot, mold growth, and moisture damage.
Metamora’s constant freeze-thaw cycles are tough on window frames and seals — that repeated expansion and contraction adds up over time. Durable, professionally installed windows are built to handle exactly that kind of stress and hold up through years of harsh weather.
In Metamora’s competitive market, every upgrade matters — whether you’re protecting your home’s value or getting ready to sell. New, modern windows sharpen your home’s appearance and can give its resale value a meaningful bump.
We take pride in providing solutions that are tailored to each homeowner and treating every project as the unique job it is. At the same time, over the last 30 years, we’ve developed a proven, consistent process that serves our customers well and helps ensure they receive the high-quality window solutions they deserve.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we know your home isn’t like everyone else’s — and we don’t treat it that way. No one-size-fits-all packages here. We sit down with you, take a good look at your home, and recommend window installation or replacement options that actually fit your situation.

Schoenherr Roofing handles window installation and replacement for both residential and commercial properties. Here are some of the window services we provide most often:
Whether it’s new construction, a home addition, or a remodeling project, we handle professional window installation from start to finish. Every window gets properly flashed, insulated, and sealed for long-lasting performance, solid energy efficiency, and a finished look that ties everything together.
Our window replacement service means pulling out the old, damaged, or underperforming windows and putting in modern, energy-efficient replacements. You’re left with fewer drafts, less condensation, reduced outside noise, and a home that just feels better to live in.
Pocket window replacement is a budget-friendly option that keeps your existing frame in place and swaps out just the window sash. Less disruption, better insulation, improved appearance, and stronger overall performance.
Schoenherr Roofing installs premium ENERGY STAR-rated windows built to cut down on heat transfer. That can mean lower monthly energy bills, more consistent indoor comfort year-round, and you may even qualify for federal tax rebates.
Our vinyl window installation services give homeowners the opportunity to enjoy durable, low-maintenance windows that resist warping, cracking, and moisture damage over time, while still offering a wide selection of window styles and color options.
Double-hung windows let you open both the top and bottom sashes independently — a small feature that makes a big difference. You get better ventilation, more flexibility, and windows that are a lot easier to clean and maintain.
Single- and double-hung windows aren’t the right fit for every space, which is why we also install smooth-sliding windows and crank-operated casement windows. These options provide wide, unobstructed views, excellent airflow, and secure locking systems that improve both comfort and safety.
Want more natural light, a little extra space, and a serious boost to your curb appeal? Custom bay and bow windows deliver all three. They work especially well in living rooms, kitchens, and bedrooms.
Window sealing and weatherproofing are a faster, more affordable way to stop drafts, cut down on moisture, and protect your home from water damage — all while keeping indoor comfort up and energy costs down.
Storm windows are a smart choice for Metamora homeowners. When installed properly, they cut down on drafts, boost energy efficiency, and give your primary windows an extra layer of protection against wind, rain, and snow — helping them last longer in the process.
Not every aging or damaged window needs to be replaced, which is why we offer a full range of window repair services. Our approach focuses on replacing specific components—such as frames, sashes, hardware, and seals—to restore performance and comfort without unnecessary replacement.
Still have questions about window installation or replacement in Metamora? We’ve rounded up a few of the most common questions our customers have and answered them below.
Metamora is one of the closest communities to our Romeo headquarters at 102 W St Clair St, about 23 miles south by way of M-24 through Oxford. That is a 35 to 40 minute drive, so our window crews are out in Lapeer County regularly. You get estimates and installs from the nearest Schoenherr team, not a distant call center.
Yes. Many homes around the village date to the 1850-to-1910 era, and we handle them carefully. Pocket (insert) replacements let us fit modern, sealed windows into the existing openings without tearing out original trim, and properly matched storm windows add protection while preserving the look of the house.
Pocket replacement keeps your existing frame and swaps the sash and glass, which is faster, cleaner, and ideal when the frame is still sound. Full-frame replacement removes everything down to the rough opening, which is the better call when the sill or frame has rotted, a common issue in century-old Metamora homes. We recommend based on what we find, not on what is easiest to sell.
They will. Homes on Metamora’s higher, exposed lots catch far more wind than sheltered subdivision houses, and that wind finds every worn seal and loose sash. Tight, correctly installed frames with modern weatherstripping stop the rattle and the air infiltration that drives up your heating bills.
We do. Big view windows are popular on Metamora’s custom and acreage homes, and we install bay, bow, casement, and oversized picture units. With that much glass, the seal quality and install precision are what protect your comfort and keep sun from fading floors and furniture, so professional installation matters even more.
Yes. Homes near the water deal with more humidity and condensation, so we install ENERGY STAR-rated, properly sealed units that resist moisture between the panes. If you are converting a seasonal place to year-round use, upgraded windows are one of the most effective steps for comfort and efficiency.

Schoenherr Roofing just finished replacing our roof and we can honestly say the crew did a Great job!! It started with the estimate guy Dave Schafer who took a video on top of our roof and inside our attic, next Chad the project manager came out to go over project and sent us pictures throughput their work to show the progress! Didn’t expect that and was very pleased we could see what they were doing! Plus they covered ALL our landscaping, and we had a lot, as well as a Koi pond. Everything was protected. Took them 1 full day and by noon the next all was cleaned up, very efficient and done. Dave then came back to show us the before and after video to make sure we were satisfied. We were extremely satisfied! All I can say is quality is hard to find these days and following through on the quote without asking for more money was a blessing when your only on Social Security. From our hearts, THANK YOU❣️Posted on Google![]()

From start to finish was nothing but a positive experience. Ben started our journey with helping with insurance and answering numerous phone calls and text from me. He was my initial point of contact and did an amazing job. Then Noah stepped in when everything was set up. He was prompt about coming out before the roofing job and explained everything that would happen. Noah definitely put my mind at ease. He was on point the day the job started and was prompt about checking the roof and gutters upon completion. The job went like clock work with Hecto and his crew. In one day he had my new roof on and my yard and driveway totally cleaned up. Ben and Noah did an amazing job and Schoenherr roofing definitely has quality employees working for them. I would highly recommended this company 100%. I love my new roof thank you!Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
