Walled Lake homeowners know just how unpredictable Michigan weather can be—and your home’s exterior takes the hit. If new siding is on your radar, it’s smart to team up with pros who understand the local climate and can suggest materials that hold up year after year.
Investing in quality siding installation doesn’t just improve your home’s appearance—it provides lasting protection, too. From scorching summers to freezing winters, your home’s exterior battles wind, rain, and constant temperature shifts.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we understand these challenges. That’s why we offer expert siding installation built to stand up to Michigan’s toughest weather and keep your home looking great for years to come.
Our Novi office at 43000 W 9 Mile Rd is just south of Walled Lake, only about a ten-minute drive up Novi Road or Pontiac Trail. That makes Walled Lake some of the closest work we do. For you it means a quick estimate, a start date that doesn't slip, and an easy trip back if a panel or trim piece needs attention after the job. We're in and around Walled Lake all the time, so your siding project gets treated like the local job it is. Every exterior we install carries a 50-year warranty, backed by more than 30 years of work and over 6,000 Michigan homes served across the region.
Walled Lake took its name from an old stone wall found along the lakeshore, and for the first half of the 1900s the lake was a resort destination, drawing crowds to its amusement park, dance halls, and lakeside cottages. When the city incorporated in 1954, it settled into what it is today: a small, compact city of a little over 7,000 people wrapped around the lake, one of the more walkable communities in this part of Oakland County.
That resort past shaped the housing. A lot of Walled Lake is older lake cottages and bungalows, many since converted to year-round homes, packed onto small city lots near the water, alongside newer infill and condos. The homes are modest and close together, built across several decades, and plenty of them are wearing siding that's well past its prime.
Age and water drive most of the siding work here. On the older cottages and bungalows, you'll find worn wood or hardboard siding that's cracking or rotting, along with early vinyl that's faded and brittle. Homes right on Walled Lake take steady humidity, wind, and winter ice off the water, which works on siding seams and the walls behind them.
We handle the whole range. We replace rotting wood and hardboard, swap tired vinyl for durable, low-maintenance siding, and on lakefront walls favor materials like James Hardie fiber cement that stand up to the water-and-weather cycle. On smaller homes and tight lots, no job is too small, and our crews work clean in a compact footprint. We'll also help you choose colors that suit a lakeside home and the character of the neighborhood.
We find where water is actually getting in, replace the failed siding, reflash the trouble spots, and set the new wall to handle Walled Lake's lakeside conditions. On a converted cottage that's been added onto over the years, we can also bring the mismatched siding together into one consistent look.
Because our Novi office is just down the road, we're through Walled Lake often, from the shoreline streets around the lake to the newer infill and condos. In a small, close community like this, our reputation travels fast, so we treat your home and your lot with care, keep the site clean, and stand behind every wall we finish.

Yes, it’s only about ten minutes away up Novi Road or Pontiac Trail, which makes Walled Lake some of the closest work our crews do. That proximity gives you fast estimates, dependable start dates, and easy follow-up, and it means we’re in your community regularly rather than driving in from far off.
Yes, and much of Walled Lake is exactly that: older lake cottages and bungalows from the city’s resort days, many later converted to year-round homes. We re-side these smaller, older homes all the time, replacing worn material with modern, low-maintenance siding while keeping a look that fits the lakeside neighborhood and making sure the walls underneath are sound first.
We do. Walled Lake’s homes tend to be modest and compact, and we’re glad to take on smaller siding projects, not just full-size ones. We’ll give you the same careful estimate and quality installation on a small bungalow that we’d give a large home, and our crews are set up to work efficiently on a tight lot.
It does. Lakefront walls on Walled Lake take steady humidity, wind-driven rain, and winter ice off the open water, which works on seams and the sheathing behind them faster than on an inland home. For those water-facing walls we usually recommend James Hardie fiber cement, which handles the moisture and freeze cycles far better than aging vinyl, and we pay close attention to flashing at the waterline exposure.
For lakeside homes we often steer toward colors that suit the setting, softer neutrals, blues, greens, and warm grays that look right against the water and the older-neighborhood character, though the choice is always yours. We bring samples, show you how colors read in the light off the lake, and help you pick a look that fits both your home and the street.
Yes. A lot of Walled Lake’s resort-era homes were built with wood or hardboard siding, and near the water that material eventually cracks, swells, and rots. We tear off the failed siding, check and repair the sheathing behind it, and install durable vinyl or James Hardie fiber cement that won’t rot, so the problem is solved for the long term instead of patched.

Alex and the Schoenherr Roofing crew did a really good job on our new roof, which is somewhat complicated with several gables, a portion that is flat and another area with a 2-12 pitch. We weren't able to be present during the work but Project Manager Dan routinely communicated by sending texts and photos. The 350 sq ft flat roof received a custom rebuild, using the EPDM system which created new low slopes with insulating board underneath. The crew did a great job installing a new skylite and installing the Deck-Air vent system for the house's low slopes. The rows of shingles are straight as are the ridge vents and Deck-Air vents. The dumpster was brought in as a large 4 wheeled trailer, so there was no effect on our asphalt, and it was removed promptly. Alex and his crew replaced rotten OSB and 1 x 6 roof boards, and improved a chimney flashing and cricket which has been a problem for years. They were careful of landscaping. Most of the work was done in about 2 days. The new roof looks great and we can certainly recommend Schoenherr Roofing.Posted on Google![]()

I had a top notch experience with this company. I was communicated with every step of the way. I had to have all new wood as well as shingles and doubted that it would be finished in one day, but it was. They also did a stellar clean-up job at the end. Many thanks to David Schaffer my salesman, Josh H. the project manager, and Yefran the foreman. Great job!Posted on Google![]()

Overall, we had a positive experience with our roof replacement, but a few issues kept it from being excellent. Scheduling was easy, the consultant was on time and prepared, and the quote and financing options were competitive. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and completed the roof quickly, even with two existing layers to remove. We also appreciated the progress photos and prompt follow-up with the invoice, financing paperwork, and final inspection scheduling. Our main concerns were communication, cleanup, and safety. We did not receive a response when we asked for a dumpster delivery time, which made planning garage access difficult. We were also told the generator and A/C units would be covered, but they were not. We also observed that no one working on the roof appeared to be using fall protection, which was concerning for work over 6 feet. The roof itself appears to have been installed efficiently and professionally.Posted on Angie's List![]()

Absolutely thrilled with the work done by Schoenherr Roofing! I had been struggling with a leaking roof for a while, and after several failed attempts by other contractors, I finally found someone who not only diagnosed the problem but fixed it with precision and professionalism. The issue turned out to be the chimney area, and instead of just patching things up, Caleb took the time to build a cricket around the chimney to divert water and prevent future leaks. The craftsmanship is top-notch, and the work was completed efficiently without any mess or disruption to my daily routine. What really stood out was their clear communication and dedication to making sure everything was done right. They explained the entire process, answered all my questions, and took care to ensure that the repair would provide a long-lasting solution. Since the repair, I’ve had no further issues, even during heavy rainstorms. I can finally rest easy knowing my roof is in great shape! I highly recommend Schoenherr Roofing for anyone in need of roofing services—they are skilled, reliable, and genuinely care about doing the job right. Thank you Caleb for saving my home from further damage!Posted on Home Advisor![]()

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof Schoenherr worked from dawn to dusk to complete the project in a very timely fashion. They came in $1090 under budget, having finished the whole job within one work day and three hours. They provided photos of the roof halfway through the project and at completion ? I would have appreciated a few 'before' photos, too. They provided a group text so that everyone involved could communicate and stay looped in. My only other quibble is that the finance person always neglected to cc my wife on emails, even though the home-improvement loan is in her name. Finally, after wrapping up the project, Schoenherr put everything in both yards back in place and cleaned the site really well. Sometimes it's worth paying a little bit more for quality service and execution. Sometimes, it's not even that much more!Posted on Home Advisor![]()
