Troy homeowners are all too familiar with Michigan’s unpredictable weather—and your home’s exterior feels every bit of it. If you’re thinking about new siding, it pays to work with experts who understand the local conditions and can recommend materials built to last through every season.
Investing in quality siding installation doesn’t just improve your home’s appearance—it provides lasting protection, too. From scorching summers to freezing winters, your home’s exterior battles wind, rain, and constant temperature shifts.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we understand these challenges. That’s why we offer expert siding installation built to stand up to Michigan’s toughest weather and keep your home looking great for years to come.
We serve Troy from our Rochester office at 425 Walnut Blvd, just north of the city and about fifteen minutes down from most Troy neighborhoods. That closeness means a fast estimate, a start date that holds, and easy follow-up if a detail needs attention after the crew wraps. Troy is regular territory for us, so your siding project gets handled like the local job it is. Every exterior we install is backed by a 50-year warranty, part of more than 30 years and over 6,000 Michigan homes behind our name.
Troy started as farmland. Settled in 1819 and organized as a township in 1827, it stayed a small agricultural community, known for dairy, grain, and fruit, well into the twentieth century. Then, after the city incorporated in 1955 and I-75 came through in 1966, Troy transformed. Smart zoning in the 1960s and 70s turned farms into subdivisions, office centers, and shopping destinations like the Somerset Collection, and Troy grew into Oakland County's largest city and a regional business hub.
That buildout is written into the housing. The bulk of Troy is well-kept subdivisions from the 1960s through the 90s, spread along the Big Beaver, Rochester, and Livernois corridors, with newer luxury homes filling in since. It's an affluent, high-standard community with some of the region's top schools, and a lot of those subdivision homes are now reaching the point where their original siding looks dated next to everything around them.
When a subdivision goes up in the same few years, its siding ages together. Across Troy you'll find neighborhoods where the original vinyl is faded, chalky, and brittle, the seams have opened, and the exteriors simply look tired next to updated homes down the street. In a community that takes pride in well-maintained houses and strong resale values, that stands out, and it can quietly let water reach the walls behind the siding.
We help Troy homeowners get ahead of it. We replace worn siding with durable, low-maintenance options, from premium vinyl to James Hardie fiber cement, that hold their finish for years, which matters to busy professionals who don't want to fuss with upkeep. Because we also do roofing, gutters, and windows, we can coordinate the whole exterior as one project, and we can add insulation under the new siding to help hold down energy bills on Troy's larger homes.
We find where water is actually getting in, replace the failed siding, reflash the trouble spots, and finish the trim so the whole exterior looks current and stays protected. Throughout the job, we protect your landscaping, catch debris and fasteners as we go, and keep your well-kept yard clean from the first day to the last.
Because our crews come from the nearby Rochester office, we're through Troy's subdivisions regularly. In a community where homes are kept sharp and neighbors notice, we hold our work to that standard, treat your property with care, and stand behind every wall we finish for you.

Yes. Our Rochester office on Walnut Blvd is just north of Troy, about fifteen minutes from most Troy neighborhoods, so it’s regular territory for our crews. That proximity means quick estimates, dependable start dates, and easy follow-up if a detail needs a second look after the job.
efinitely, and it’s a common reason Troy homeowners call us. Because subdivisions here were built in the same few years, siding ages together, and one un-updated exterior stands out on a well-kept street. We replace the tired siding with current profiles and colors that fit the neighborhood, so your home looks as sharp as the ones around it.
For low maintenance, we usually point Troy homeowners to quality vinyl or James Hardie fiber cement. Both resist rot, pests, and fading and never need repainting the way old wood siding does, so your exterior stays sharp with almost no effort. James Hardie holds its factory finish especially well if you want the longest stretch between any attention at all.
Yes. Along with siding, we do roofing, gutters, and windows, so we can coordinate the full exterior on a single timeline instead of juggling separate contractors. Doing it together makes the flashing and transitions between siding, windows, and gutters watertight, and it’s usually more efficient and less disruptive for you.
It can help. When we re-side, we can add a weather-resistant barrier and insulation under the new siding, which reduces drafts and helps your heating and cooling work less hard, something that adds up on Troy’s larger homes with a lot of wall area. We’ll talk through the insulation options and what kind of difference to realistically expect.
We know Troy homeowners take pride in their yards, so we plan the job to protect them. We cover and shield plantings near the walls, stage materials off your beds, use tarps and magnetic sweeps to catch debris and fasteners, and do a thorough cleanup each day and at the end. The goal is a finished exterior with your landscaping left just as we found it.
