Living in Metamora, you’ve seen how quickly Michigan’s weather can turn—and how tough it can be on your home’s exterior. If you’re thinking about new siding, it’s smart to choose a team that knows the local conditions inside and out. You need experienced pros who can recommend the best materials to protect your home all year long.
Siding does more than improve appearance, it acts as your home’s defense against everything from humid summers to freezing winters. With constant exposure to wind, rain, and temperature swings, your siding needs to be built tough.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we know exactly what your home is up against. That’s why we install siding designed to last, durable enough for Michigan’s harsh conditions and stylish enough to enhance your home’s curb appeal for years to come.
Metamora sits up in Lapeer County, about seventeen miles north of our Romeo office, out where the suburbs give way to open country. Yes, we come out here, and the drive is worth it. Metamora's homes are unlike almost anywhere else in the region, from historic village houses to sprawling horse farms, and they deserve a siding company that understands them. As the closest of our offices, we can still get out for estimates, hold our start dates, and follow up after the work is done. Every exterior we install carries a 50-year warranty, backed by more than 30 years and over 6,000 Michigan homes.
Metamora's name comes from a Native American term meaning "among the hills," and it fits. The land here rolls high and open, from around 900 feet up to nearly 1,300, giving homes big skies, long views, and full exposure to the weather. First settled in the 1840s, the village grew into a tight-knit country community, and its historic crossroads district still holds early architecture from before the First World War, anchored by landmarks like the old White Horse Inn.
But Metamora is best known as horse country. The famous Metamora Hunt has ridden here for generations, and the surrounding countryside is dotted with horse farms, hunt clubs, and large estates on wide-open parcels. It's a place that holds tight to its rural traditions, and that setting shapes every siding project we take on out here.
On a horse farm, siding often has to tie a whole property together, and we can match new siding across the main house, the barn, and the stables so everything reads as one. On an open, rolling hilltop, a home takes the full force of wind and sun, so we install durable siding and seal the walls to stand up to that exposure year-round. For homeowners who want a rustic, natural look that suits the hunt-country setting, we offer cedar and shake-look profiles and warm, earthy colors that blend a home into its surroundings.
In the historic village, we re-side older homes with care to preserve the character that makes them special. And whatever you choose, quality holds up out here where homes are exposed on every side, which is why we favor tough, long-lasting materials like James Hardie fiber cement for country properties. That kind of durable exterior pays off for years, especially on a home that takes the full brunt of open-country weather.
We find where water is getting in, replace the failed siding, reflash the trouble spots, and finish the trim so your Metamora home stays protected for years to come.
Metamora is a community that values craftsmanship, and we hold our work to that standard. We come prepared for a rural job, show up when we say we will, protect your property and grounds, keep the site clean, and stand behind every wall we install. Whether you own a historic village home or a horse farm on rolling acreage, we bring the same care and quality to your Metamora exterior.

Yes, we do. Metamora is about seventeen miles north of our Romeo office, and it’s our closest location to the area, so we cover it regularly. Country communities like Metamora deserve professional siding work too, and we make the trip with quality materials, dependable scheduling, and a crew that comes prepared for a rural job.
Yes, and it’s common work in Metamora’s horse country. Matching the siding across the main house and the outbuildings, whether a barn, stable, or arena building, ties the whole property together and protects every structure. We can side all of them in coordinated materials and colors so your farm reads as one cohesive place rather than a patchwork.
Metamora’s high, open ground means homes get full exposure to wind and sun on every side, so durability matters. We recommend quality vinyl or James Hardie fiber cement, with fiber cement especially good at resisting wind and holding its color in strong sun. Just as important, we seal the walls and fasten everything securely so the exterior stands up to that constant exposure year-round.
A rustic, natural look fits Metamora beautifully, and modern siding makes it easy to achieve. Cedar and shake-look profiles, along with warm, earthy color palettes, give a home that country character without the upkeep of real wood. We’ll help you choose profiles and colors that blend your home into the rolling, wooded landscape out here.
We can. The village holds early architecture worth preserving, much of it from before the First World War, and we re-side these homes carefully, keeping their trim details and proportions while upgrading the walls to durable, low-maintenance siding. We choose materials and colors that respect the home’s era and the historic character of the village.
Not a problem, though we plan for it. Rural properties with long private drives just require us to coordinate access, deliveries, and material staging ahead of time. We arrange all of that with you before we start so the crew and materials reach the home smoothly, and we come prepared to work self-sufficiently on a country site.
