Goodrich homeowners know how quickly Michigan’s weather can change—and how hard it can be on your home’s exterior. If you’re thinking about new siding, it’s essential to work with a company that understands the local climate and can recommend the best materials to protect your home in every season.
Investing in quality siding installation doesn’t just improve your home’s appearance—it provides lasting protection, too. From scorching summers to freezing winters, your home’s exterior battles wind, rain, and constant temperature shifts.
At Schoenherr Roofing, we understand these challenges. That’s why we offer expert siding installation built to stand up to Michigan’s toughest weather and keep your home looking great for years to come.
Goodrich sits out toward Genesee County, about twenty-five miles from our Rochester office, in the rolling countryside northwest of Ortonville. It's a bit of a drive, and yes, our crews come out this way. Goodrich is a small, historic village with country homes worth doing right, and we make the trip with dependable scheduling, careful work, and a crew that comes prepared. As our closest office to the area, we can still get out for estimates and follow up after the job. Every exterior we install carries a 50-year warranty, backed by more than 30 years and over 6,000 Michigan homes.
Goodrich is a small, close-knit village with deep roots in Michigan's milling days. Founded in the 1830s by the Goodrich brothers, it grew up around a mill on Kearsley Creek, and the Goodrich millpond it created still sits at the heart of the village today. It's a peaceful, rural community of older homes near the water, country properties on acreage, and the quiet, scenic character that comes with a place built around a millpond and open farmland.
That setting shapes the siding work we do here. Homes around the millpond deal with the damp that comes with being near the water, and country homes on open lots take weather from every direction. Whether your home is an older village house by the pond or a place out on acreage, we build its exterior for the conditions out here, from the damp near the water to the open wind and hard freeze-thaw winters of rural Genesee County.
For homes overlooking the Goodrich millpond, we install siding rated to handle the extra moisture near the water and seal the walls carefully to keep damp out. On older homes, we can update the siding without spoiling the vintage, country character that gives the village its charm, and for those who want it, we deliver a classic country or farmhouse look using durable, low-maintenance materials.
Many Goodrich properties come with old farm outbuildings, and we can side a barn, shed, or corn crib to match the house so the whole place looks pulled-together. And because the millpond and creek keep things damp, we account for the moisture and any pests it can attract by installing tough materials and sealing everything well. Whatever the home, we find where water is getting in, replace the failed siding, reflash the trouble spots, and finish the trim so it stays protected against the country winters.
Being out this far doesn't change how we work. We come prepared, show up when we say we will, protect your property and grounds, keep the site clean, and stand behind every wall we install. For a country home that takes weather from every direction, James Hardie fiber cement is an excellent, low-maintenance choice, and we're glad to walk your property with you first and lay out what we'd recommend. Goodrich's historic and country homes deserve the same quality and care as any other, and we're glad to bring it out here, whether you're by the millpond or out on acreage.
If you’re done with constant upkeep, high energy bills, or just want a fresh look, new siding can make a big impact.
Top-quality siding does more than improve appearance—it boosts energy efficiency, adds durability, and protects your home from Michigan’s unpredictable weather. With durable materials and solid insulation, you’ll enjoy better comfort and may even lower your energy costs.

Yes, we do. Goodrich is about twenty-five miles from our Rochester office, out in the countryside northwest of Ortonville, and it’s our closest location to the area. While it’s a bit of a drive, we make the trip worthwhile with quality materials, dependable scheduling, and a crew that comes prepared for a rural job.
It does. Homes near the millpond sit in more moisture and humidity, especially on the water-facing walls, which is hard on siding and trim that isn’t built for it. We install materials rated for that damp exposure, seal and flash the walls carefully, and can recommend finishes that resist moisture and stay looking fresh, so your millpond home holds up well right by the water.
Yes, and that balance is what we aim for. We update older homes with durable, low-maintenance siding while keeping the vintage, country character that gives Goodrich its charm, matching profiles, colors, and details to the home’s age. The result protects and refreshes the home without making it look out of place in a historic village setting.
That look suits Goodrich beautifully, and modern siding makes it easy. Lap siding in warm, muted tones, board-and-batten accents, and shake-look profiles all deliver a classic country or farmhouse feel, and in vinyl or fiber cement they hold up for decades with little upkeep. We’ll help you choose a combination that captures the farmhouse character you’re after.
Yes, and doing them alongside the house ties the whole property together. Many Goodrich properties still have outbuildings from their farming days, and we can side a barn, shed, corn crib, or garage in coordinated materials and colors so everything matches and stays protected. We’ll include the outbuildings you want in your project.
Damp, wooded settings near water can attract insects and moisture that are hard on an exterior, so it’s worth planning for. We install tough, moisture-resistant materials and seal everything well to keep water and pests from getting behind the siding, and both quality vinyl and fiber cement hold up well in damp country conditions. A well-sealed exterior is your best defense out here.
